Angela Merkel and her decisions

To what purpose though?

You can talk about it being used as a tool of oppression or whatever, at least that argument can hold some water but lets not pretend that banning it will improve security.

There are positives with doing away with it but an introduction of the ban will cause more friction and will result in a law which alienates one group and is not enforced due to 'complications'.

Oppression of women and the safety of everyone else are the main reasons.

I'm pretty sure she isn't wildly popular in Germany like she once was or am I mistaken.

her popularity is starting to wane, but have you known a leader's popularity NOT wane after 3 successive terms? I'm sure I read somewhere the other day that a recent poll (lol) still showed 60% of voters would vote for her; sorry the citation escapes me. We'll find out if she wins a record-equalling forth term I suppose, but this idea she's a nutcase or something is absolute rag nonsense.

She should be sentenced for every rape committed by immigrants since she opened the floodgates.

It's quite obvious who is voting for her- the immigrants.

Explain safety. You cant see their face so they could potentially be a famous criminal which is recognisable by face going round under that veil? Please. Even if people follow the ban, it wont improve safety, if anything it will be less safe for those that strongly oppose and support the ban.

I can understand the oppression of women part but banning it simply does not work unless you are going to dedicate police to patrol neighbourhoods and make sure no one is wearing them. If they are? Then what, fine them? Will you fine someone because they choose to wear a veil or fine them because their husbands oppression. How exactly does this ban prevent oppression...

The Independent obviously as shown by your OP link

:p

It has also become a bit boring the questioning of peoples sources on here, any source usually put up will still attract criticism, it's become ridiculous on here.

Some people on here think they know a poster inside out by whatever source the poster posts and then try and ridicule the poster.

Why should it be banned though? As long as it is worn through free will I honestly don;t see any problems that can't be surpassed by a bit of common sense on both sides.
It's often not worn through free will, though.
AFAIK, there is no religion that requires niqab or burqa to be worn, but instead it is enforced by legal systems in certain countries, with the argument that it is tradition... The contest to that is that the country they're now in does not have such enforcable laws.

Shall we also ban motorcycle helmets, hat and scarf combos, balaclavas and any other form of headdress that can be wrapped around the face?
Well, according to the stickers on the front doors, bike helmets are banned in certain places anyway, such as pertol stations and banks... I believe they'd not take too kindly to most other forms of face-covering, too.

I'll bite, go ahead then.

e: I'll add it isnt the MSM.

Since you're keen on the "MSM" moniker yet claim not to read it, I'll hazard a guess it's not the Daily Mail - it's probably some fringe right-wing site, which also happens to have a favourable view of Russia and probably promotes conspiracy theories.

To be honest, the point I was actually making was that your claim is clearly total nonsense. You're seeing Merkel as some kind of extremist who never says anything reasonable - which is self-evidently nonsense.

Despite absolutely loathing Farage I will concede that he does from time to time say things that are reasonable. I want to know why you can't see anything she's said over the last 2 years as reasonable.

Exactly so surely purely for safety they should all be outright banned if we ban the burka.

If people really want to pull the safety and security card, then i agree for places to ban all forms of face covering if noted at the entrance of places that feel it necessary.

Stupid idea to try and ban it in public at all times and all places though. How would you even enforce that effectively let alone without causing more strife and punishing the people you are introducing the law for (the ones being oppressed).
