Had mine about 8 years and starting to become a little inconsistent in shape/thickness probably get atleast another year maybe 2 out of it though.

How long should a decent duvet last ?

what is considered decent?

i had a fancy £500 duvet and you know what i thought it was garbage, sent it back after numerous returns as it was leaking hungarian goose down everywhere and bought myself an £80 anti allergy replacement from M&S.

so price =/= quality

synthetic should last longer than natural too IMO.

so it depends a lot on the type of duvet and the real quality of it rather than perceived quality.

i would say if you regularly wash or look after a duvet then realistically speaking it could last a very very long time. it's the same as a car though people buy new cars every 3-4 years when they could keep the same car for 30 years there are classics cars out there still running and used daily. same goes for decent quality clothing like jackets, etc. some people tend to buy a new one every year when they could last decades.

tldr; there is no right or wrong answer. you decide how long you want to keep it for.

My winter duvet is around 10 years old, it goes for laundering as soon as the summer one goes on every year. Its got plenty of life left :)

I got mine from Argos for about a fiver each, both are comfy and if they need replaced after a year I don't care for the price I paid tbh

Mine are about 15 years old. I have two, one for summer and two for winter.

e; Damn, too slow. :p

No, I use the one for summer and add another for winter. Two in total.

Ah, that makes more sense as you said you had one for summer and two for winter which makes three :)

Personally I have a nice feather and down duvet that I have had for about 5 years now and cost me something like £30. Gonna need replacing soon as it is starting to look a bit tatty, but then for £6 a year it is nothing to pay for something I use about a third of my life.

I replace my duvet, pillows and mattress protector every year. It's kinda disgusting keeping it any longer I think anyway.

Its some goose down thing from John Lewis, its lost all its ooompphhh.

Maybe a trip to the dry cleaner, wont fit in the washing machine :)

Depends how much you spend, I just buy the cheap ones from Asda or Argos, they usually last a year or two. Cheap pillows can be less as they usually go flat.

I don't buy the ones that contain animal feathers, it's cruelty.

It doesnt seem to matter how much i spend on pillows, they always go flat in no time :(. Even bought a really expensive memory foam one and that feels like a strip of playdough after a years use.

Haven't a clue how old my duvet is, its not something I keep track of. best estimate is I bought it ages ago if that helps :p.
