Hey

Family looking to sell a BMW e39 M5 1999 in carbon black.

All proceeds to go to charity.

What would be the expected value for such a car?

Original alloys just refurbished.
Paint in a good condition for its age.
110k miles.
Perfect runner, no noises. Mot clear.

Thanks all

Most E39 M5s (excluding unicorns) seem to be priced according to the following criteria:

<100k miles, facelift (after September 2000) = over £13k
>100k miles, facelift = £9k - 13k
<100k miles, pre-facelift = £10-13k
>100k miles, pre-facelift = £6k-10k

That was pretty much the order of things when I was looking. 110k isn't too much, Carbon Black is a great colour and if tidy I'd try for about £11k before haggling. Time of year possibly doesn't help, although if proceeds are going to charity you might be in a better position.

Thanks.

If we are looking > 10k I think we will have the bonnet repainted as it's the worst part of the car.
Should help.

Thanks for the very detailed information

No worries. Basically, more than anything else, these cars will sell on condition and history. With a complete history file with receipts, in great condition (and no rust!) it'll sell itself easily as strong money.

Perfect, should be sought after. Ensure that the one owner/family and documented history is stressed in the advert and it should be snapped up.

Make sure when you do the bonnet re-paint you take pictures of how it is now, sometimes a front-end respray can scare of buyers, because they do not know the true reasons for the re-paint, they might think you bumped it.

Good idea.
The poor bonnet has hail stone damage from years ago. So would most likely get a decent replacement resprayed.
Will grab a photo later :)

these fetch some good money, being in the family from new with history will attract buyers.
sort the bonnet out and any other little niggles if any.

This is quite a generous thing to do. Is there any back-story? Which charity are you giving the money to?

I will do a write up in regards to back story and why we are doing it when it comes to writing the advert :)
Just need to sort a few things on it before its ready for a new owner.

You could try and contact some of these high profile charity auction type events which celebs etc attend?

Edit: however I assume the proceeds would have to go to that particular charity so you can just ignore my suggestion lol
