40k miles, new discs and pads?

Not sure about the driver rating thing, it's got an OBC and park assistant (which is spooky - parks itself!) but not sure if you can discern if it's got it from this photo....

Its somewhere within the trip computer, on hers you use the steering wheel controls on the right, cant see if yours has controls on the right hand side too? Have a look through the menus on the trip computer. However you control them on yours lol!

Yes, it's got controls on the right and some sub menus, I'll have a look when I next drive it which will most likely be the weekend and report back. :)

I changed the discs and pads on my 2001 Focus after 98,000 miles. MOT advised pads so I did both. The lip on the discs was a little worrying however I don't drive mad and step on the brakes. In fact I rarely have to use the brakes because engine braking slows me down mostly before I even get there so I don't have to stop at all. In traffic I'll just crawl in 2nd gear at 10mph with clutch out and leave a gap of maybe 10cars as they're all stopping and starting.

Either disc/pads are made from cheap materials or you are all over zealous on the brakes. :p

Trying to sell people new disks and tyres when theres months left in them seems to be standard practise now, especially from dealers :/

You have to realize that most people get their car serviced and expect to do nothing for the next 12 months. So dealers have to replace items if they could potentially last less than the next service period. Its not an issue for many in the ocuk motor forum who are probably on top of their consumables, but for average Joe they want it to be serviced once a year and for it to last the year with -nothing- else done to it.

That does make sense and is logical but I'm sure the dealers aren't doing it to ensure a years happy motoring for their customers :p
