People who park on the grass.

It can be enjoyable seeing if you can squeeze your pram/pushchair through the gap a parked car on the pavement leaves, but sometimes I'm clumsy and accidents happen. But it's better than having an accident on the road.

I wish it was always this easy :p last week I walking along a busy main road and one of them big construction type vehicles (the ones that look as through they can carry other construction vehicles) was blocking the path. They didn't look like they cared and showed no intention of moving. They was facing oncoming traffic and half mounted on the curb due to the size of the vehicle. Left no room at all for me to pass between them and a wall when I attempted to.

Ended up having to walk back a little and luckily a motorist slowed down so I could actually cross the road. Couldn't see around the vehicle without going into the road first. I must admit, I wasn't at all impressed, especially as I was also pushing a pram!

This was some 'beautiful' parking.

You think maybe you can just squeeze though this space, but the lamp post makes it too narrow. Plus it's on keep clear lines at a disabled school, where there is lots of wheel chairs!

with all those wheelchairs, the side of his car is gonna look like someone scraped it with a cheese grater

Council solution to roads where people make a fuss is to put large rocks on the grass.

where it should be using some of this unused space to making proper parking spots. It's like councils and governments are trying to force people out their car but they cant as public transport is just shocking and un-usable. A mate moved to a house in a brand new building estate and i don't understand how they are allowed to build like that, the roads are a absolute night mare due to everyone parking on them. Lots are provide with garages but you cant realistically park in a uk garage they're just to narrow.

Just park on the road.
This time of year the grass is ruined with massive holes and mud everywhere. .

Council should ticket people or fine them for the damage.
Looks terrible. .

Last year, the area around our office was being destroyed by grass parkers... also gave us huge amounts of amusement watching people bury their cars in the quagmire as well, when trying to get them out.

They've now lined the paths with trees/bushes, so nobody can get onto the grass verge... also, the nice parking warden from the Council comes round and regularly gives out prizes for anyone daft enough to violate the order of things, which leads to nearly as much amusement as the quagmire parkers, when you see people tearing across the business park to move their cars.

It's a nice thought but I can't ever get in to my garage because inconsiderate people always park across it without fail and last time we parked on the road both cars were written off by a moron in a 4x4 whose breaks failed (should read: was busy on his phone). So I'll stick to the grass verge if it's all the same :)

In what way is public transport this shockingly bad? I always hear this same complaint from car drivers but so many people use public transport without this shocking service provided. It sounds like people just want to justify reason to drive.

Not saying your area isn't as bad as you say it is, it could well be. But I do find car drivers always exaggerate these things.

i think it's more, they have one bad experience and that sours their opinion. e.g. they take the train everyday for a month, one day the train is cancelled and they are over an hour late for work. They then complain about that for the next few days and from then on their opinion is soured about public transport.

Bugs me and I live on quite a wide road where people don't need to park on the grass. All it takes is a delivery lorry to park up on the wet grass a few times and it turns into a mud pit.

Unfortunately though the number of cars per household is on the rise as more young adults continue to live at home but have their own car. Instances of 4, 5 or more cars per house does take the ***. Weekends are the worst when many people aren't at work. Roads that are bad during the week must be horrendous at the weekends / holidays.

What is the solution though? Its almost impossible to police and is only going to get worse :(

Screwdriver meet wheel.

because for most of the country it is, and not just bad but next to non existent.
expensive, slow, only operates at certain hours. only set up to go to centre of the town and back out, forget going around to other areas with multiple changes.
if you live in london, or one of the northern cities with a tram then year they a e pretty fantastic, but that's not the case for most of the uk.
