What a pleasant morning I have had.

Coming up to a roundabout in the correct lane pull off nice and safely and go to take my exit (straight over) Then a guy in his Mercedes E300 estate comes flying onto the round about in the inside lane (technically its the correct lane it just merges straight away once exiting) nearly takes my front end off so I give him a little peep of the horn.

He then proceeds to slam his brakes on and come to a stop. Gets out of the car and walks over to me carrying 2 imaginary carpets under his arms starts shouting his head off and opens my door saying come on then you C word you didn't expect me to be this big. which made me giggle as he was actually shorter than me. then shouted fine we will leave it then you P word. and slams my door shut.

I thought what a silly sausage and kept my distance, happened that I ended up behind him at the next round about so left plenty of room to not anger him more. Didn't work he got our his car and started taking photos of me. So i got my phone out and did the same.

Would you report it? is there any point?
or just move on and live another wonderful day of happiness with a great morning story for your colleagues to laugh about?

Yes i would, only a matter of time before he gets physical with someone. People like that should have the license taken away. If you have his reg definitely report it.

I had a similar issue recently albeit with a tool in a van. He got even more wound up when I sat just smiling at him and blew him a kiss.
He was ranting and raving making threats, he didn't realise I'd dialled the none emergency number who heard the whole thing. He only realised when I asked 'did you catch that?' And the lady in the other end went 'yes, we've got a car on its way'.
His face was priceless. Absolutely priceless.
He's now got a vehicle marker against his van which he requires for work and received a formal caution.

You said he was technically in the right lane so why did you have a problem. He probably thought he was technically correct.
Andi.

there is some very special drivers on the road. You've got photos just forget about it, If anything comes of it you've got this thread to remind you what happened. :p

I got flashed, sworn and bibbed at the morning by a lorry for over taking him on a wide, straight, open road. He didn't do anything wrong I just knew he would be sitting at 60 on the carriageway so saw it as an oppurtunity to get ahead. Was so confused as to why he was mad. I imagine the locals loved being woke up at half 6 this morning by a horn.

Andi.

I had already exited the round about . 2 lanes merge the merging had finished and then he cuts me up and nearly crashed into me.

even if it wasn't for that, its now way to react from a horn beeping at you.

I think the issue was the driver cut it very close to the front of the OPs car by trying to get ahead on the roundabout exit.

You are probably right though, the Merc driver saw it as perfectly acceptable since the road allows for it. When he was beeped this was a challenge to his ego and driving ability, which clearly he took great offence to.

Personally, I have quite a large tolerance to this type of brutish driving. Mainly because the hassle and rage caused simply isn't worth it. Even people completely in the wrong driving like ****s aren't worth getting wound up about.

regardless of if the guy was in the right lane or not. even if I was in the wrong. You don't get out of your car on a roundabout exit and try to start a fight in the middle of the road

Some people seem to go mad if you peep your horn at them, they take it very personally.

Yes very strange how drivers in the UK seem to get so wound up. They should go and drive in the EU where its second nature to peep at each other often, do massive lane switches etc. Difference is in the EU no one seems to take it personally or get wound up, they just get on with their day. :)

Absolutely, but unfortunately there are a lot of drivers who have anger issues.

If a driver is generally driving like a dick then you can probably assume they will be the type to rage if beeped.

It's a rule I apply on my commute since it's a common occurrence. If I clock a driver doing questionable overtakes and generally driving aggressively, I give them a wide birth. These types don't react well to being told they are driving like ****.

I've had someone brake test me then get out and start f'ing and blinding at me, i just locked my doors as he walked up to me and let him have his rant.

It was all because he pulled out in front of me from a small tesco car park without looking and then proceeded to do about 5-10mph through a 30 zone, so i gave him a little flash of my lights at which point he sped up and then brake tested me so i gave him a beep on the horn as i almost hit him at which point he stopped and got out.

Some people must have big issues in their lives if that is their reaction to simple every day events :( thinking about it i probably should have reported it as it was very threatening behaviour and it could really scare someone or worse he could actually hurt someone.

Stop misusing your horn. Oh, and ignore the altercation, he probably had something else troubling his mind.

Probably get in his face and escalate the situation

Really? I find it strange someone would be happy to have a fight over something so petty. Turning up to work unscathed is more important to me. I just wouldn't sink to their level.

Worst I've had is middle fingers out of windows and things when I use the horn on idiots who pull out on me or carve me up, or occasionally someone decides to go on a 'go slow' until they get bored of me not reacting, and then speed off.

Not sure how I'd react in this situation to be honest, though I would have pressed my door lock button when he got out of his car.

I'd be worried about what I'd do it he kicked my car or something though, the last time someone did that I absolutely lost it. (Not a road rage incident)

I guess that is one good thing about the auto lock most cars have. Stops car jackers and idiots trying to punch you.
