graphics card dilemma.

Ive just bought my grandson a new card radeon rx 460 nitro 3gb,but I cant connect to his monitor because its vga and the card is hdmi,and dvi-d,I thought I could buy an adaptor but it seems they dont work with this set up,Do I need to buy a new monitor with hdmi,and connect to the card with a hdmi cable?
Could anyone recommend a budget monitor,as my budget for this present is going to be much higher than anticipated.I would appreciate any help.

So you're using a DVI to VGA adapter and it doesn't work?

DVI-D to VGA wont work as its a digital signal.
DVI-I to VGA will as it sends both digital and analogue

So he'll have to return the current card and try to find one that has a DVI-I port then I suppose.

24" ones are pretty cheap at the moment
