Nothing like owning your own home (minus the debt!)

Merry Christmas to all who are in the 'chain' this xmas!

Our removals quotes were all remarkably consistent, all around 1k for full packing service.

Christ, a grand for someone you don't know touching all your stuff? I guess I can understand if you have a lot to move.

Nearly finished our complete house renovation, just the skirting to go in the living room then decorating downstairs and we're done, (only taken 10months...) getting a table delivered on thursday, and bought two cheap chairs from john lewis outlet at the weekend, cutting it close for xmas dinner :D

Exchanged! Completing on 23rd Jan!

Didn't take too long from seeing the house at the end of October to exchanging today, now we have 5 weeks to pack up our current (rented) house, gonna be a busy few weeks especially with Christmas.

That's good news. We issued our offer at end of November and just getting searches and contracts in place.

Hope ours goes as smooth as yours!

Expect issues so that you wont be too disappointed. Hopefully it will go without a hitch!

Please do, the thread needs more pics!

Been too busy at the moment, currently going to work in dark and coming back in the dark, will try get some next week, once all the mess has been sorted.

Got blinds fitted, dining tables and chairs, and sofa and living room chairs delivered yesterday so it's all coming along.

Fingers crossed here for a simultaneous exchange and completion tomorrow following some jumping up and down. Would be great to get everything done before Christmas!

It's a cottage from the early 1900s that has been rebuilt and renovated quite a lot so it's more like a house that was built in the 1980s that was renovated 8 years ago. It can't even really be classed as a cottage any more but it's in the name!

Hopefully it all goes well, nothing like a last minute purchase before Christmas ;)

Had best part of 20 completions over the last few days, lots of happy people :p

And also lots of unhappy ones who won't be getting in for Christmas, most of which were told that from the start but still find it entirely unreasonable not to be..

Thanks! Last minute sale actually! Took a low offer to ensure a rapid completion which hopefully will come to pass. They knew this 2 months ago, and as usual there have been plenty of stressful conversations between everyone involved.

Gotta love the Christmas deadline! A quick sale is a good sale... but people are unreasonable!

Had someone ring up on the 2nd with a new instruction and saying both they and the sellers had pre-booked removals for today I think it was. Already knew it wasn't a straightforward one but wouldn't have been possible anyway. Explicitly explained that. Come last Friday "so are we still on for completion on 21st?"........ Kill me.

Holy crap, actually exchanged and completed on our sale today! I really thought this was going to be a 16:55 on Friday afternoon job. The lesson here is to use a good solicitors!
