The Stargate Reboot Film Has Fallen Apart

Good news, a difficult franchise and story not to end up with a full independence day 2 effort on a reboot. The first film was dire as well so it's not like they have a solid film canon or wide market appeal to reboot too.

The TV series, well at least SG1 was infinitely better than the film.

Be much better if they rebooted the SG1 TV series instead.

Or just let it die please. It was an ok film, a good show that was then dragged out way beyond it should have been. Atlantis was surprisingly good but Universe was crap. Just let it die. It's fine that it exists and if you love it then just go watch it again. It doesn't in any way need a reboot though.

Are you joking?

At the time of it's cancellation Universe was far and away the best Stargate show that had aired, the network gave it no chance to survive with days and times it aired at so it was always doomed to fail.

Universe....

No way a bunch of highly educated people acting like they was all 15 on a magic ship.

The show had zero charm or humour like the other series. Tried and failed imo.

I'm kind of sad personally - I really hoped to see something totally new as a reboot - the older storyline has been done and dusted and long enough time past I can box it all up as its own thing and accept a new storyline.

I'll take two of what this guy is smoking

I agree - Universe got cancelled when it had eventually found its feet. The latter episodes of the second season were fantastic. It's a shame it took so long to get going and also I wish they had never dreamed up those stupid communication stones... :/

Yeah those stones killed it dead - completely killed the atmosphere. Still a lot of potential to rescue it though so shame they killed it off - there were some pretty epic bits as well - Destiny recharges build up and execution was excellent.

Atlantis was my fav, and pre season 8 sg1

Universe was getting better, but a bit drab

(in comparison I think enterprise was much better a reboot than universe)

This is a shame. Not much good Sci fi out now

That show was just some people arguing as far as I remember.. Maybe one or 2 good episodes

I liked it because of the intriguing question of why was Destiny launched. It just started to get good when they nearly had full control of the ship.
Admitted it had some ups and downs but it's a damn sight better than anything on at the moment imo. Jesus if The Flash and things like Travellers were held to the same standards they'd be canceled after 1 episode.

Universe was dire. Suppose you though BSG was good too?

Comparing any incarnation of Stargate to BSG is like comparing a soggy McDonalds cheeseburger to a Kobe steak.

BSG is utterly superb, loses it's way a little towards the mid-end but then pulls it all back nicely.

Stargate is a bit of fluffy fun that looks worse with each passing year. Don't even get me started on Universe, it's beyond bad, just teen angsty drama set in space.

Loved SG-1 (Until the Ori turned up.... Eurgh...) and Atlantis as they had the right blend of humour and "Sci Fi mumbo jumbo" to keep me entertained * (The character interactions made the show for me).

Universe didn't really work for me but became far more watchable in the second season.

The original film was ok I suppose but the franchise works so much better as a TV show (longer character development arcs, various storylines, "Monster of the Week" etc).
