Civic for the wife

I got the 2012 civic 1.8 petrol. Nice car but a couple of issues. The paint job gets damaged by just looking at it. Front is a tad on the heavy side when breaking and the auto engine stop is a bit clunky and sometimes just doesn't work. Apart from that its alright for fuel economy as long as you keep things under 3500rpm. Good boot space.

I have a 2013 1.8 petrol model currently at 30k miles, previously I had a 2.2 diesel 2008 model which was a great car very strong. It did 125k miles in six years before I traded.

When I took the current one in for a service, my old one was still in the car park and was being used as a delivery vehicle by the parts manager who said it was his favourite car for the job.

How may miles it has done now, I cannot imagine.

Thanks all, for what it's worth were only considering the 09 onwards as I'd already found the facelift details and it also has to be a 5 door to cope with any future "arrivals" so that rules out the Type-S etc.

That black petrol EX GT linked earlier is lovely but the dealers are a 3.5 hour drive away so it's really pushing it.

I'll have another hunt to see what I can find a little closer to home.

So as an update to this we have finally bought one.

It's a 59 plate 1.8 Petrol EX GT. It's only done 46000 miles and seems to be in relatively good condition. It wasn't quite as perfect as I hoped and has a few niggles along the lines of some minor scratches to the paint work, only one key, no mats, and no service history book (though I have seen verification from Honda of it having main dealer services from 2010-2014).

Despite it's flaws it drove faultlessly and did the 130 mile trip home without missing a beat and making 48mpg. It's also been fine the last couple of days and every toy / feature seems to work without issue.

We have some mats on order as well as some new sidelights to better match the Xenons, I've had a quote from 3dautokeys to get a spare key cut and it will be booked in for a good service after Christmas. All in all though it seems to have been a good choice so far.

Obligatory pictures below.

good spec.
get that spare key done asap.

Yea its high on the list. Though I've checked in with Honda and luckily even if we did lose the only key you can still have new ones cut from the keycode they keep on record, it's not a full ECU switch job as I've heard the odd horror story about in the past.

Go onto civinfo - for sale section...new gear knob will smarten that up.
Along with some plasticare trim dye (black)...
I have a Civic 07 2.2 Type S...it is crashy but it is a great car and the room/boot space is great.
Cant fault the car. Welcome to Honda

The Civic does look to be in very good condition.

When I was getting a car for the wife a few years ago I took her to take a look at the Civic and the rear visibility or lack of it killed it.
