*** Rogue One: A Star Wars Story *** (NOW WITH SPOILERS)

i disagree, for me its the technical side.
It didn't look real and was distracting as soon as it appeared on the screen, completely took me out of the film.

Same, and with Leia too. It just looked weird. I'd have preferred a different actor entirely as he would have at least looked human. It could have easily been avoided too. Either way, not a major gripe, but both of those scenes were marred by the poor cgi and took me right out the movie.

I'm sure they'll change it for the Special Editions. There is a precedent after all. :)
If George Lucas were still involved, you could go to the cinema again next week and the chances are that it would have been changed.

Dissapointed with R1, star wars is all about the characters and R1 fell flat in this department. You can have all the cool space battles you like but without characters you are invested in it means nothing. 2 hours was plenty of time to allow some level of character development but it was largely ignored in favour of fight scenes and cgi rehashing of old characters. Shame.

Watched R1 last night and seeing this thread is genuinely the first time I've thought about it today.

For me, growing up Episode 1 was the first Star Wars movie I saw.. and being young at the time I absolutely loved it. It wasn't for a few years once Episode II and III were released that I even knew about the original trilogy, and so I watched them all well after I seen the prequels.

So, for me, Star Wars is all about Jedi, Sith and Lightsabers. Everything else is just fill to build up to the main fight.

I knew this going into R1 so I wasn't expecting it to feel overly Star Wars to me, and although yes it was a good film, it just wasn't Star Wars.

The best part for me was Vader going brutal at the end.. I want more of that.

I have 0 excitement for the upcoming Han Solo film, I genuinely don't get the hype.. I would love an Obi film however.. especially as Ewan Mcgreggor wants to do it.

Also, side note on the CGI characters.. bearing in mind this is really new technology I thought it was superb. And on the ethical side, providing the family gives consent (which they did), then great, I want to see more of it!

Yeah I couldn't be less excited about the Han Solo spin off, he was one of the least interesting characters for me. Don't really care about his past. Would much rather see the Obi Wan, Darth Vader or Yoda spin off

i'm hoping that they'll at least take a little bit of inspiration from the han solo trilogy of books for that movie. I grew up on the star wars expanded novels and was actually a bit disappointed that Rogue 1 was its own story, i always thought the x-wing series was one of the best parts of the expanded universe.. it deserves making into a film.

I LOVED the X-Wing books, I think I still have them all at my dads somewhere, may dig them out again and read as I don't have the foggiest what happened in them any more, it's been at least 10-15 years, haven't read the most recent one that came out in 2012 either

Last one i read was Isard's Revenge, which i think was early 2000's. I don't know if "adult" me would enjoy them as much, but there are warm fuzzy memories (thank you Michael A. Stackpole)

If you value them go get them now. You'd be surprised what dads throw out without checking once you've left home

I wonder where Kanan, Ezra and Ahsoka were during all this.:)

When they are all heading to the drop ship to go get the plans you can hear the tannoy call out 'General Syndulla to the control room' or something like that. You can also see the Ghost in the background in a couple of shots, and at the big battle at the end. That's your Rebels tie-in ;)

What I found strange was Jyns father built the deathstar with a flaw to protect her/ stop people looking for her. Yet it was his creation that killed his only daughter at a very young age. Quite sad really. After everything he did he couldn't have given gerrera the plans in the first place?

TBH - why did they even need the plans, if he'd just said in the hologram 'shoot the exhaust port at these coordinates' that would have been job done. But hey, still a good film.

Presumably they needed to plan the attack, eg, know about the trench, the turbo lasers can't target small ships, where the shield generators are, etc.

Saw the movie last night, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a sucker for anything Star Wars.

Also, my collectible seems all the more valuable now that James Earl Jones reprised his role as Vader!
