Caporegime
I saw it a little while back and my one thought was this was the sort of prequel we deserved. Not that dross we got.
I generally agree with every pro (almost everything) and con (no need for CGI faces, and the first 2/3 was too slow) discussed so far, and ultimately agree it was a great Star Wars film - much better than the prequels and better the latest sequel.
I would have no beef with Disney doing an Alien-style reboot of the follow-ups. Episodes 1-3 done in this style would make me a very happy panda.
One thing I've seen people gripe about is the random ships we've not seen before. The universe is huge with a myriad ships. The Millenium Falcon itself was unique on screen. I don't think it takes much to imagine there are thousands more that we haven't seen.
We getting hung up on the crawl now.
This film is a 1 off it can break as many rules as it wants
I don't care there's no crawl because it doesn't even fit with the " non epicness," of the story, it's just a story of a few people doing the right thing at the right time in the right place, with sexy results.
The more I look at the pre reshoot theroies, the more ii think I'd like to have seen this too.
Yeah I wasn't complaining. Just checking I hadn't missed anything! I went and watched it again last night and it's just so, so good. That ending is incredible.
Didn't even think the CGI Tarkin and Leia were that bad tbh!
Better than TFA, it did feel like it was missing something though, perhaps because everyone dies at the end..
Saw this at BFI IMAX and just got back - nice little tribute to Carrie Fisher by the staff at the BFI. The end seemed fitting but quite surreal given her death, almost as if it was filmed for that reason...
Minutes silence was a nice touch, 'our galactic princess' .
