*** Rogue One: A Star Wars Story *** (NOW WITH SPOILERS)

We getting hung up on the crawl now.

This film is a 1 off it can break as many rules as it wants

I don't care there's no crawl because it doesn't even fit with the " non epicness," of the story, it's just a story of a few people doing the right thing at the right time in the right place, with sexy results.

The more I look at the pre reshoot theroies, the more ii think I'd like to have seen this too.

I was waiting for the wall of text, the Star Wars and Lucasfilm intro, and when the film started without, it was almost jarring, but I guess it's a marker right at the beginning to show that this isn't your usual Star Wars movie.

Great film felt more star wars than TFA and no lightsabers in sight. Love all the little nods to the original trilogy and even the prequels.
Tarkin was very uncanny valley but I get his inclusion in the film. Vader was badass, the core group were great and actually felt sad at the end for them.

And the music was fine! I have no idea what the heck people are on about with that.

Great film , will gladly see again in a few months.
I think it adds a lot to the new hope as well.

I generally agree with every pro (almost everything) and con (no need for CGI faces, and the first 2/3 was too slow) discussed so far, and ultimately agree it was a great Star Wars film - much better than the prequels and better the latest sequel.

I would have no beef with Disney doing a Star Trek style reboot of the follow-ups. Episodes 1-3 done in this style would make me a very happy panda.

One thing I've seen people gripe about is the random ships we've not seen before. The universe is huge with a myriad ships. The Millenium Falcon itself was unique on screen. I don't think it takes much to imagine there are thousands more that we haven't seen.

Alien-style reboot won't happen with Disney at the helm. Even with a 12A certificate people still took their young kids in droves to see this -- a solid cash cow, especially if you take the merch into account. Going for niches is not something Hollywood often does at its own expense.

Yeah I wasn't complaining. Just checking I hadn't missed anything! I went and watched it again last night and it's just so, so good. That ending is incredible.

Didn't even think the CGI Tarkin and Leia were that bad tbh!

Leia was better, as in, if you are de-aging living actors, it'll look better on screen than digital necromancy.

Saw this tonight. Good film. Very satisfying finale. I'd be interested to see the director's original cut, prior to reshoots.

No problem with Grand Moff Tarkin or Leia. Weird at first but ultimately more effective than using a different actor / actress.

10/10

Went into the cinema tonight hearing on the death of Carrie Fisher.. Very sad at the end had to wipe away a tear.

Best star wars film so far

Saw this at BFI IMAX and just got back - nice little tribute to Carrie Fisher by the staff at the BFI. The end seemed fitting but quite surreal given her death, almost as if it was filmed for that reason...
