Power Meters

Reviving this thread as its time I got a PM.:)
Thoughts are that its either Garmin vector or Powertap P1s. Dual powertap is just too expensive for me at £900. Seems like a few of you have the Garmin Vectors and have got on ok with them. Do I really need two sided? its about £300 more which I could put towards some new shoes and a set of climbing wheels - or a bike box.

Any thoughts guys?

You can train to power without dual sided but I'd personally want something that at least takes both legs into account (I have a P2M which you can pick up quite cheaply second hand). How about the Powertap C1?

Forgot to say - I want something that can move easily between bikes and I wont be giving up my lovely chorus cranks

The only thing I think they miss is that quarq and I believe SRM requires specific torquing of chainrings which the p2m doesn't.

This is not correct, with the quarq I have it doesn't matter about the chain rings, its independent of them.

Ah, pedals are obviously the way to go then :)

No personal experience with Vectors or P1s so I won't comment further. I heard they both use cleats that aren't SPDs  Who even does that?

Maybe that's changed then, a teammate of mine previously ran in to trouble after having different torque values. I'm up to 3 P2Ms now :o One on each bike. They're becoming very cheap for what is in my opinion the best vfm and most reliable solutions. Only know folk with Vectors having run into a multitude of issues.

On that note, after my 300 in utterly biblical weather I opened up my P2M a few weeks later and a load of water leaked out. In the meantime it had carried on working absolutely fine however. Pretty impressive really.

I've just got the SRAM RED Quarq power meter to go with my Orbea Orca OMR with etap.
Much to learn for it at the moment but it integrates very well.
