**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Took delivery of the MI 5S. Can't believe you can buy phones of this spec/quality for £256. Great buy......

Yeah I've had mine for a few weeks now and loving it. I flashed The China ROM and then the unofficial EU ROM without issue. My only qualms with it are the fingerprint sensor doesn't work 100% of the time (though apparenty Apple's one doesn't either), and it's a bit slippery so I have to be really careful putting into or taking it out my jeans pocket. Could be helped by a case, but I don't want to add size/weight to it (I never use cases).

Just done a speed test on my Redmi note 3 on Virgin 4G.

Download - 24.21 Mbps
Upload - 8.26 Mbps
Ping 32 ms

Not sure if this is good or not.

I just got a cheap one off ebay,it's a really good fit hardly any bulk you wouldn't know it's on as it's clear.

Register the same finger a couple of times and that usually sorts the finger print sensor out, I have both the fingers I use registered twice and it's flawless.

sounds like this thread has become the Xiaomi thread, which I'm not complaining about.

Wonder if anyone can help. I'm in the market for a new phone and wondering what people reckon my options are, I love Xiaomi and therefore would jump at the chance at one but I'm confused as to their different offerings.

I'm coming from a non premium UK phone (Vodafone SU6) which has a poor GPU but a great screen. I'd like a 1080 screen if possible, >=2GB ram, preferably one which will receive O2's 4G band (Whatever that is), the main thing is I want to be bang up to date with Android. I sorely miss my Nexus 4 and am still salty about the fact I had two nearly set on fire on me :P

You can try the ultra thin tpu cases. I flashed cm13, me and other users find the fingerprint reader better on cm13.

Since moving to miui8 I can't open the NatWest app. That's on the China ROM for redmi note 3. Also it won't let me download from playstore using my data as it insists I use wi-fi? Any ideas how I can sort this?

Have you tried using the Google installer. http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=233426&highlight=google+installer As for the download problem, go into the downloads folder and tap on the 3 dots on the top right, go to settings and contents settings and make sure only load content using wifi is un ticked.

Edid sorry just re read, you already have the play store installed so scrap that bit.

The three dots in downloads was the place to go. In there it was limited to 1mb download. I have now set it to unlimited. Hope that works.

Still not sure why NatWest app won't work though?

That's odd as that used to be on MIUI 7 but not seen it on 8 and not on the global ROM, at least you got the download problem sorted but not sure why the app won't work, may be it's a permissions problem.

Following the instructions here to update MIUI to latest ROM but when I connect phone to PC, it's blank. There's no folders at all. Any ideas?

Edit: Sorted. Wasn't getting the notifiction pop-up about changing USB to MTP.

What should the latest ROM/MIUI be for the mi5? Apparently the latest one should have the option to double tap screen to wake up and mine doesn't have that. If I download the latest ROM from Xiaomi website and use the updater app it says that the rom I currently have on is newer. How? I'm on 7.2.8.0.0. One I've downloaded is 8.1.2.0 so I'm a bit confused.

V8 is newer, you're on a fake rom

So I can just ignore it saying my current ROM is newer?

For a 32gb phone and with apps I use on a daily basis I've only got 20gb left. Is it the fake ROM using all the space? I just want rid of it all.
