A while back I had a pair of 2.1s that blew up. Got a refund on them but I'm considering going with 2.0s now as the sub is a little cumbersome to place.

So, I'm in the market for some great ones. Any recommendations for fantastic sound for less than £120ish? Bluetooth not a requirement but would be a bonus.

Any tips lads?

2nd hand will get you a far better set of speakers but if you do decide to go new have a look at the Mackie CR4 monitors, I have a set (without Bluetooth) and they are fantastic. £110 for non bluetooth, £135 for the Bluetooth version

I love it when people say Bose stuff is good. The one thing they make that actually sounds good for the money is their bookshelf speakers. They are not terribly accurate or transparent but they do have a very rich and full sound.

Get the Presonus. You won't be disappointed.

Do they hiss at low/silent volume? Seems like a lot of people online saying they do.

Speakers don't hiss, it's what is before that does.

But if speakers hiss, it's because and/or

they're efficent
amplifier has a high noise floor
amplifier has a high gain therefore amplying the noise floor.

If they're active speakers and hissing with no input connected then something internal of the speaker (amplifier) has a high noisefloor.

well I went for steljes ns3 ;)
just unpacked them.
have no space to set them up properly and test...manual says to play music via them for 24-48h before listening to any proper music. at the moment they in my opinion miss some mid tones...hopefully this will get better after some music playing as advised

our flat was on fire and we are in temporary accommodation...screen is set on our bar/kitchen table :D

speakers are darker yellow than on images..speaker on the left is closer to the color in real life.

screen is 32" to give you size perspective.
