We seem to be going from a non apple household (although I did have my old iphone 3GS for fives years before I got me SE) to using I-phone SE, Air max 2 I-pad and now I-phone 7.

Went from carrying a small compact Lumix camera to just using the phones for holiday and everyday snaps.

Anyway aging PC that will get renewed to a high end rig later 2017/18 for games. Because of its age a 2004 build its had a few hissy fits like PSU dying a few months back that I replaced I got a WD Passport ultra a year or so ago to back up and make sure if the HDD on the pc finally went I’d have some kind of backup.

Question: Now most of our recent pictures are on the Ipad or I-phones. Is there any way to get them backed up on my Passport drive? Do I try and get all the pictures off the Apple devices onto the PC and do it that way or will my apple devices see the WD drive if I plug it into the home network ie homehub ?

Would love to have both the PC backup that uses less than a quarter of the 2TB drive and all the pictures of the apple devices on the drive as back up. Any idea or pointers appreciated.

Plug the HDD into the PC and then plug the devices into the PC and you can literally drag and drop from the iPhone/iPad etc onto the Passport.

Alternatively, upgrade to 50gb of storage on your iCloud account for 79p a month and all your photos will be automatically backed up. You can access them online and download them etc if need be as well.

Is it really that simple thought it would throw up the usual apple to windows madness. Ill give that a go. failing that i have £44 on itunes account i have no use for so if i can use it at 79p a month that would be fine too.

Cheers.
