Top 10 Guitar Solos

Another one:

Deep Purple - Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming :)

I think it qualifies as a solo, nevertheless a memorable riff...

Michael Jackson's Beat It, as performed on the album by EVH. A solo so epic, it caused the main artist to turn white. Still my favourite.

For me, a great solo has to be musical and melodic. There are many technically incredible solos but they lack a certain musical finesse.

Every great Rock intro and solo is relatively simple and catchy.

He probably thought it would damage his reputation, being seen to care about a pop song. :D

I doubt it since he's already had hits with two massive pop songs - Pretty Woman & You Really Got Me.
I can't be sure who told the original story of the solo to be honest but it was quite basic.

Ahh fair enough. I really don't know anything about it, was just surmising. :)

I'll give you one fact about EVH because I was there.
I saw Van Halen on their very first UK tour supporting Black Sabbath and every time he played a solo he would turn his back to the audience.
Their roadies were also that good at packing up that they got a standing ovation from the crowd while they did a bow on stage.

Marty Friedman - Symphony of Destruction, Megadeth
