Unless Asus come out with a Z270i motherboard within 2 months I intend to buy the Z170i for a new mitx build.

So I'm planning ahead to keep myself busy whilst I try to wait patiently.

The Z170i motherboard has 3 PWM fan headers and the CPU one alone is indicated as being 1amp. Other two are not clarified in the manual.

I would like to run 2x 140mm PWM bequite silent wings fans (0.5A each) for intake from one of the other two PWM headers. I really don't want to stick one of them on a molex at full thrust.

Can anyone confirm what amp the two non CPU fan headers can deliver ?
Or has anyone ran two 140mm fans using these header ?
The 120mm only draw 0.2A in contrast.

Not sure if it would be safe to assume they are also 1A.
The fractal nano S MITX case has no spare slots in the back or front for installing additional fan controller.

I might not be much help on your specific question but for the record I use the same motherboard and I use a 140mm & a 200mm 3-pin fan that are both running on the same chassis fan header with a 3-pin splitter, I believe they are on CHA-FAN2 as it's noted on the motherboard and they run exactly as they should, at full speed - but also despite that they are only 3-pin, I can still lower the speed of both fans simultaneously to some extent.

Also the AIO water cooler that I have listed in my sig consists of 2 x 140mm PWM fans that also connected to the same CPU-FAN header using a 4-pin splitter. Again, both fans can be fully controlled simultaneously via PWM without any power issues.

Liam.

Thanks for input guys.

I was about to buy a powered fan splitter adapter by akasa but seems I will be fine attaching two 140mm fans per header.
