Take the political compass test.

I've always viewed the political compass with skepticism. Virtually everyone scores in the bottom half and the system for scoring is completely unknown.

I responded with what I expected to be right wing authoritarian answers and I got this....

what , most of the questions are pretty obvious which answer will lead to what.
However many people vote what they have always voted regardless of their opinion on policy, there's tactical voting, and there's what you want, you don't think is possible. So people will often vote differently than what they actually would if it was a set of questions on actual policy.

chart

Economic Left/Right: -5.0
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.69

which based on the earlier image means I'm pretty much Ghandi....

Apparently I'm a lefty to the right of Sinn Fein

Left leaning libertarian.

Same (2 squares off centre to the left, 4 down libertarian) but it just feels like "common sense" to me. I suppose everyone feels that way though! :p

Took this a few years ago and I was right of centre libertarian. Must be softening up in my old age...

I was expecting to be right leaning libertarian. Economically I am certainly right wing although with a conscience. But libertarian didn't surprise me.

It's a been a while since I last saw this test pop up and I've only strayed marginally in all the years I tried it. For a nasty Brexiteer to be placed in the same neck of the woods as Gandhi, does make me chuckle. :D

There are good left wing arguments for Brexit or Remain depending on which angle you're taking so I wouldn't be so surprised. :)

Do you believe big business should say **** the environment in the search for greater profit margins? Or do you think you're right wing because, like many on here, you hate the welfafe culture that pollutes todays society?

Neither. I believe in reward for hard work.

Was expecting it to be a bit further north.

I'm going to do it again when I'm more awake and able to think. :)

Well appears I have more in common with greens than I thought despite thinking they're nutjobs.

Some questions like the astrology one make me think this test isn't overly accurate...

GD becoming some sort of agrarian anarchist collective? Hah!:D

But as we're rolling with the compass again, let's make this interesting:

(Compass website)

Idealistic position: Thomas Paine *Eagle sound effect*
Realistic position: Angela Merkel *Ode to Joy*

(Isidewith)

Well, my ranking is: Green/Lib Dem (tossup) ~70%, Labour, Cons (I'm 1/3 of a Tory, apparently), UKIPs:mad:.

Big vs Small: **** it, in today's world we go BIG!
Globalizaiton vs Protectionism: DJ doubles up on Globalization
Unicorn Economics vs Keynesian Economics: Well, if the choice is between "let's sit back and watch the world burn" and an Oxbridge don, I pick the don
Tough vs Tender: Max Tender
Collectivism vs Individualism: For the people, by the people, provided they are not reduced to gibbering cretins puts me marginally with the Collective!
Pacifism vs Militarism: I'm a fairly peace-loving chap, it'd seem
Regs vs Deregs: Sensible regulation prevails
Unilateralism vs Multilateralism: Multi to the MAX, apparently
Trad vs Prog: Moderately progressive :)

Of course at 3am, this is probably less accurate than the Compass where it mixes UK and US issues (it has questions about Congress in the UK's quiz, lol).

Quite surprised seeing as I'm pro brexit and stricter immigration controls.

Why does it have labour as right wing?

Because labour are right wing.

Look back at the Blair and Brown years and review their policies and decisions, incredibly right leaning and authoritarian.
