EK Predator 240 leak (again...)

I have to say EK support has been outstanding regarding the the pump outlet hair line crack issue, in they are sending me a new part to replace it.

I hope you get your computer up and running soon, when working the AIO EK 360 and 280 have been fantastic and cool very well.

I have checked the CPU block many times for any leaking and nothing so far. I was even thinking to replace the block with another just in case.

Im really dissappointed because the unit does look really nice and even better with a GPU Prefill attached, shame everything else was made in china so to speak.

Seriously?
It's only a computer. Calm down.

You should test things things outside the case imo.

Any loops I build I test without any power in my pc with distilled water.

Any leaks are fine as it's distilled and nothing can go wrong as power is off.

These prebuilt prefilled things are just dangerous.

Its only a computer calm down? Are you kidding me. I built this computer over the span of 10+ years and i am not ashamed of saying i am not the richest person.

I also see you didn't take time to read this thread as you would already know both units were tested "outside" the case... some people

I had to RMA a predator 360 recently myself and to be fair EK were great.Got a replacement sent and was up and running within a week of the incident.Thankfully replacement unit has been perfect so far.Great job cooling my txp and 6800k overclocked.I was lucky I had a backup pc here while waiting on a replacement.I understand your frustration.I would have cracked without a capable pc and luckily no damage was done to components.

The faulty units highly outway the working ones, after googling and reading many other forums looks like another recall is needed.

I think you will find its the other way round, many units function perfectly and its the units that fail that get posted about. its always the same, the same faults get posted in multipal forums over and over.

The idea of AOI is a good one, i have both 360 and 280 one for CPU one for GFX and they both cool very well. I am sure EK will sort you out but over the holidays is always gonna be a difficult period for any RMA situation. thats why i oppted to fix my own issue with hair line cracks on the pump outlet.

hope you get it sorted soon fella

They haven't picked up my faulty unit yet but still dropped in the new unit.:)Can't complain.

No problems with OCUK as always a speedy RMA, just waiting on some acknowledgement from EK. Don't want to keep purchasing units to just return them.

Always a good sign when you're told it will be forwarded to the manager as complaints are on the rise.

I had my H100i for about 2 years before replacing it with an air cooler. This kind of scenario was always at the back of my mind and I was at the point where I finally decided to avoid the inevitable.

It's a really ****** situation dude, I feel for you. Are you looking to replace like for like or would you be going to an air cooler?

Why don't you leak test the unit before putting it into your system?

Why would you? It's a sealed unit

Reply from EK:

Thank you for contacting us.
I'm really sorry to hear about the reported problem.

You are correct, this should not be happening, but sadly we received a bad batch of material from our raw material provider and now some of the units that are already on the market are leaking. We sincerely apologize for that.

The EK was a replacement for my H100i which ran very smooth, unfortunately atm i am still looking in to a EK Predator 240 with QDC as i also recently put a pefilled wterblock on my GPU.

You should be good with the replacement. My own replacement is functioning 100%.I will admit after handing out almost €500 to cool my TXP and 6800k you don't want a leak.

I am on my third unit which to no surprise leaks, EK have only removed all the AIOs from there website but not told any retailers of the situation as being informed earlyer by my phone call to OCUK.

On there website it states availability 18th jan which is far to long.

Well EK are willing to add a few safety measurements to an existing faulty aio i had after repeatedly and i mean repeatedly stating i no longer have the aios as they are in transit to OCUK, so apprently once again i have to play pot luck and if the unit is faulty this time send it to EK. Why they cannot just make a new unit which i am more than willing to pay for as i just want my computer up and running is beyond me.

As OCUK very kindly suggested purchasing elsewhere as they believe the batch they have is faulty, so i have made my 4th purchase 0_0. Upon purchasing i did querie how many returns from leaking they have had, which to my surprise was 0 (fingers crossed).

For a first time customer with EK, very dissappointed.

Wow, it's surprising sometimes but you'd think before people offer their critique they'd at least read the thread.

I'm not sure what's been going on with these previously very reputable H20 producers. Swiftech are having the same problems as EK with their AIO; their new X2 line is having some terrible problems with lots of users reporting leaks.

Ah the days of good ol air coolers were much simpler! ;)
