I don't understand racism or homophobia

It's about 1 group having power and control over another group.
Make them subhuman and then you can get away with anything.

Take Gingers for example, disgusting soulless tree worshipers

It takes the use of fewer brain cells if you blame your own failing in life to be the fault of someone else for whatever reason you can dream up.

Self-reflection and critical thinking are not the traits of Bigots.

Well racism is now a catch-all for literally anyone you might have a disagreement with and homophobia is just men (and i guess women) who are probably themselves curious about it but need to show they're the best lad/ladette there is.

A large part of it will have something to do with a person's upbringing. If you're brought up around parents or friends who are racist, sexist or homophobic it would be all too easy to be influenced by their views. Other times it's people feeling weak or insecure, they need to find a group or an individual to hate to make themselves feel better, and it can also be jealousy. It's sad, weak and pathetic, but if you've never known anything else then you probably don't know any better.

People are racist or homophobic because they are more likely to behave differently. Gay people are more prone to putting on funny voices and being drama queens and black people more prone to violence as examples.

People aren't racist just because, but from provable differences in culture and values. Black men more likely to abandon children, gay people more likely to flaunt their values for negative effect to wind people up.

How you can't see some people would hold this against them (even though they're not all guilty of this) is a little dumb to be honest.
