I don't understand racism or homophobia

People are racist or homophobic because they are more likely to behave differently. Gay people are more prone to putting on funny voices and being drama queens and black people more prone to violence as examples.

People aren't racist just because, but from provable differences in culture and values. Black men more likely to abandon children, gay people more likely to flaunt their values for negative effect to wind people up.

How you can't see some people would hold this against them (even though they're not all guilty of this) is a little dumb to be honest.

That is stereotyping is it not, the basis for racism and homophobia...

Nothing wrong with stereotyping based on facts. Ever heard a straight person with a gay voice or wonder why there is a special police unit for black on black knife crime?

There are differences other than skin tone and sexual preference. This is where it comes from.

"Homophobia is a choice", right? (wrong, of course). Some people are even in denial on how bigoted they are, and would make any excuse, consciously or unconsciously, to justify their prejudice. The stereotyping is not a cause, it's a consequence of being racist / homophobic.

To me, at the source, it's just ingrained behavior. Like religion, some people can move away from their 'indoctrination', some cannot, some will not.

Not forgetting modern society is a thin layer over our primitive brains. It's fairly natural to have aversion to differencies, as in the past they would be of a different tribe and therefore a threat.

Ignoring the actual racist and homophobic stuff: why does difference lead people to "hold this against them"?

And then not ignoring hte racist/homophobic stuff:
Some gays have effeminate voices (as do some straight guys), and some act like proper muppets (as do some straight guys). But many don't.

And the black generalisations: culture is not race. Don't let yourself get confused.

Yes I agree, some people are just moronic and theres no changing that, but others have their reasons. Just trying to help the op understand really.

No, but they're interlinked enough to be valid to the causes of it.

Loving all the sweeping generalisations in this thread about sweeping generalisations.

The irony is beautiful.

I literally don't understand how or why people are racist or homophobic. It just doesn't make sense to me and it sickens me to think some people are.

Can somebody please enlighten me?

Idiocy, stupidity and wickedness. No other reason exists. Absolutely none, because there isn't any logical explanation.

They are simply retards.

.

Men in general are far more violent than women. But very few men are anti-men because of that.

Yes there are MANY WRONGS with stereotyping.
And define "gay voice".

Because I am straight, however my voice if I do not focus, can get high pitched. I do not see something wrong with it, because that is how my phonetic cords are.

Hell I could pursue a career in opera as a Countertenor, making more money than as a software developer. Because is rare.
But again due to social stupidity, I have to focus when I am talking to make my voice as heavy as possible.

No, but they're probably anti chav, or anti tattooed football shirt wearing looking individual. It's the same thing. Interaction with those groups would have a greater chance statistically of being negative.

Homophobia is nothing to do with anybody being flamboyantly gay. Are you suggesting people like Julian Clary and Graham Norton are the root cause of homophobia?
It's fundamentally about nonacceptance of difference. It's the same reason a group of boys beat to death a Goth who was just walking.
