I don't understand racism or homophobia

I didn't mean it in the literal sense, i.e. there is actually a gene. It's a throw back in our psyche from the beginning of time.

Chimpanzee's create family groups who will regularly go on a raiding party against other Chimpanzee groups. This behaviour is also observed in other species.

It's simply the arrogance of man that believes now we claim to be civilised we have transcended such behaviour. I think it might be the case that we've simply suppressed it.

or maybe you've explained part of the reason there aren't 7 billion + Chimpanzee?

The casual xenophobia and sexism you often display shows that deep down behind the relaxed Alpha facade you have built up to protect yourself lies a scared little *********, much like those you love to deride.

I have no irrational fears of Xenos but balloons! My Globophobia is almost as bad as my Keanuphobia! I can no longer go into McDonald's to get a happy meal in case a child is playing with a balloon and pops it!

P.S. how is your Russophobia? :p

No Tefal, I'm not interested in how you rank them.

I'm specifically asking for any rational definition of 5 races.

Oh im sorry i thought you wanted the scoring category, you can choose anything you like for that.

For the races, how about the standard ones from the uk census that are used for all national statistics?

I disagree, I think we're blurring lines some what if we try to explain mindless discrimination with natural/historic instinct of survival. It's not arrogant to acknowledge that humans have developed self awareness and an understanding of right from wrong, we are conscious beings. I think it's derogatory to not acknowledge that racism is a more recent phenomenon that men essentially created by dividing people based solely on skin colour. It was simply a control method of pretending one race was inferior to another, and then enslaving it (and yes, I understand this didn't just occur with whites enslaving blacks but also the opposite way round). This irrational consideration of other colours is much more likely to have been passed down from recent slavery than ancient instinct.

Correct. Then follows the well known defensive mechanism of humour. The big softie! Give that guy a hug.

Since I think that "race" is a fictional concept with no sound basis in reality and therefore that it doesn't actually exist, I think your question is based on a false assumption (that "race" is real) and is therefore invalid.

If you want a list of broad strokes of achievements (an approach which has plenty of flaws of its own), off the top of my head mine would be (in rough chronological order):

Sumerian
Egyptian
Greek
Indian
Roman
Arabic
Chinese
Western European

Even with 8, it's missing a lot. They're connected, anyway, so it's not all that meaningful to treat them as completely seperate. For example, modern numerals (which are far more important than they might first seem to be) were invented by an Indian culture, initially spread by Arabic culture (although the key person in that was Persian, not Arabic) and then by western European culture from which most of modern maths (and everything that rests on it) comes.

Race is real though. I mean we have numerous laws based around the concept of race.

Yout list seems a very bizare mix of empire's, regions and countries as oposed to a racial list.

(Humans are a member of the Chimpanzee family)

No they're not.

Heh, straight copy n paste job:

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Clade: Synapsida
Class: Mammalia
Order: Primates
Suborder: Haplorhini
Superfamily: Hominoidea
Family: Hominidae

Is this just a way of saying. I am interested in the problem more than you therefore my opinion is worth much much more and everyone should follow/do as I say.

People like to hate, protecting your own tribe from other tribes is deep deep within the psyche. Some cultures are past this little foil-boil in humanity others not so. Its not going to go away in the next 100 if not more years. It will get better but it will not go away.

I like the description a blind person gives when talking about race....

As for homophobic there is homophobic and the general annoyance of ooo look I camper than a carry on camper film about campers camping. The supergay.... i really dislike supergays.

And I hate annoyingly loud and obnoxisous people, their sexual preference has nothing to do with it.

Disliking overtly camp people does not mean disliking gay people, it just so happens that more overtly camp people are gay than not.

Correlation, causation, etc.

Must have been a lot of soul searching at the BBC before that story was put out.
Already heard people on the radio saying race wasn't an issue.

Then they're living in denial. In the article it says the victim was forced to say "I love black people" at knife point.

Of course they are living in denial, how many times do we hear blacks say that only whites are racist as it's simply not possible for blacks to be racist, just impossible.

I literally don't understand how or why people are racist or homophobic. It just doesn't make sense to me and it sickens me to think some people are.

Can somebody please enlighten me?

I don't think anyone truly knows the true definition. These days people tend to throw these terms out at any given opportunity. I personally find it rather petty.

At the end of the day. People will think and believe what they want. It doesn't bother me.... Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I saw the video and it was disgusting. But black people can't be racist ;)

This is what the media will have you think. Fact is anyone can be classed as racist.... This idea what black people cannot be racist makes me literally laugh my arse off. I just had to pick it up and reattach it.

You didn't read the BBC link then...oh dear

Would you call them racist?

I've just read the article and stand by what I've said. If this were the other way around this would be a huge racial story.

It's things like that which don't exactly help matters. Clearly race related.

Yes and no.

I've not watched the video, but from the article it seems clear that the assailants are racist, but not that the attack was necessarily race related.

Sadly, those with 'special needs' are much more likely to suffer physical assault than general members of the population.

It may be that the racism was incidental, or it may not be. I'm just disputing the 'clearly' bit.
