ex58-ud4p mobo overclocking x5660

hi guys i have a ex58-ud4p motherboard and i have a i7 920 running at 3.5 in it but iv been looking at getting a x5660 only problem is iv noticed a lot of people online seem not to be able to overclock it the ex58-ud4p is it not possible ???

Where are these statements posted? Are they saying it is not technically feasible or it blue screens or what reason was given?

I do not have any personal experience with your mboard, but I have the EX58-UD5 that I clocked an i7 920 up to 4.0GHz (on air) for 4 years. I will be purchasing an X5670 now that I have updated the BIOS to the latest version F13.

Have you checked out the link below and BIOS updates? The documentation shows the XEON 5660 as being compatible.

According to the links shown below, the X5660 is supported. The link shows all processors and more besides that are compatible with your Motherboard.

The PC Specs site I show above has a lot of information on it. Perhaps you should look at a XEONs other than the X5660. It is my understanding from your first link that you have not purchased yet?

not yet was going to a few days ago and i know this it just says not suppretd on gigabytes list i know the cpu works in it just no one seams to be able to overclock it in my motherboard
