I have been watching this unfold on CNN for the past hour, it has just gone from 9 injured and one in custody to now multiple dead.

The worlds gone mad.

Why do people type meaningless things like "the world's gone mad" when this stuff has been happening for years? Yes it's sad, but It's just another mass shooting in a long line of mass shootings since guns were invented.

When did these kind of shootings start in the US, has this generally always been the case?

America has a violent history I think, I am no expert by any means, but all these schools and public shootings, is this something since 911, this is apart from the Muslim related mass shootings.

I think the Columbine school shooting was the start era of the school shooters, however when did the rest of these shootings start, maybe they have been going on for decades and people are more glued to 24 news and the internet now.

There's always been mass shootings in the US, just you're more likely to hear about it now - there's still plenty you won't hear about as well.
