Airport attack in the USA

Really ones I have seen you would have to enter through arrivals which would look mighty suspicious walking the wrong way up nothing to declare :o

But maybe I have just not been paying much attention to how open they are.

For domestic the belts are usually directly in front of arrivals, so anyone can just walk in and mingle. There's no "nothing to declare", just doors to the street. People come and go all the time to meet family from flights for example, there woundn't be anything suspicious about it.

He sounds Mexican, could be the start of Trump retaliatory attacks. Could just be a yank gun loving nutjob. God only knows

Anyway, RIP to the victims.

How long before we have security checks to even get in the airport.

Be interesting to see how Trump tackles this. He's inherited one hell of a problem, that's for sure :(

Stansted used to do that a few years ago. Not flown out of there for a few years now but I remember the police pulling over cars and doing random checks just before you entered the car parking/drop off area.

Depends on the airport I think.
The baggage area in Gatwick when I came back from Africa was 100% a secure area.

The actual Fort Lauderdale baggage reclaim.

Those doors on the left will lead out to the road, and you can see the baggage reclaim belts on the right behind the pillar.

It's pretty easy for someone to just walk in with a weapon if they want.

Local flights in the US allow people into the baggage collection area at some airports (i.e. they are not in a secure area, the public is free to walk in off the street and meet their friends and family as they await their bag), but not on international flights.

I hope not, they are a nightmare. I've been through a few in other countries and essentially going through security (metal detectors and all) with additional hold luggage bags means the queues can be an hour at peak times.

The guy checked in the weapon in Canada and flew down here with it, Canada being one of the least gun accepting countries on earth.

We are freely allowed to carry a weapon in an airport up to security though (concealed carry permit required)

Gun ownership in Canada is actually relatively common (ranked 12th in the world for ownership). Canada's attitude towards guns is completely different to America's though. Guns are fetishised in Canada.

Sounds like (from reading the reddit live feed), Ex US Army flies in (is a gun carrier) and losses his poop, and goes postal. Or, he got discharged because he is mentally unwell and after the flight goes postal.

You can walk into your local hardware store (Canadian Tire)(sic) and buy a gun if you want, with a licence obviously, but people use them almost exclusively to hunt wildlife not humans.

Terrible thing to have happened, condolences to anyone killed or injured.

Found this page as a result of looking for some information about US gun crime, some of the statistics, particularly number 2 are staggering.

Lucky. Last time I went through an airport with security to enter it took to to three hours longer than normal. And was bloody hot queuing up to
