Overwatch

I got mine off amazon just before christmas it was £20 for boxed origins edition not sure if they still have in stock.

Nah those are done, gg for grabbing one!. TBH I quite admire what Blizzard achieved with the game so may just throw £30 directly at them. I'll give it till next week and see if anything pops up.

I'd be curious to see what rank you'd end up at after a few 100 games with that controller limitation
Hey Scott
I have now played over 100 games and here's how it's going, I started off as gold after my 10 games then shortly after my rank fell like a brick down to 1250 as I was still learning the game. I'm now back above 2000 and ranking up nicely and at least now I actually earned it this time.

I don't feel like the controller is holding me back this game seems fairly easy to hit the target compared to other games and I like the way the analog stick uses a 2 speed system on this game rather that the usual analog.

To be fair the main characters I'm using are probably the easiest ones to aim with reinhart, roadhog, symetra.

The game is very polished, the online netcode is flawless I have 20ms ping every game and can always get a competitive match against people my skill anytime day or night. Well worth £30 IMO

The matchmaking really doesn't work but the game is fantastic fun. Id just stay out of competitive mode until at least 50, it can be a bit toxic.

What makes you say the match making doesn't work?

For me this game has the best match making out of any game I have ever played it puts you in with people at your skill level and finds a game in under a minuite I just don't see how it could be any better.

It really doesn't put you in anything to do with your skill level, you can be against people off almost any level with many hours played. 90% of games are a stomp or a stomping.

I think that basically sums up matchmaking. Maybe in a premade you don't encounter these problems but the average Joe will, especially if new to the game. It's a lot of fun but to say matchmaking isn't broken is fooling one's self

I would agree that it generally works quite well. Every now and then there's a lopsided game, but it's only maybe 1 in 8 or 10 perhaps for me.

What I also realised, looking at my stats on Oversumo, is I'm good with some characters and bad with others (sounds obvious, but bad with ones I thought I was reasonable/good with). So I guess you might get a team build that has 3 or 4 people playing with chars they aren't that great with as they've been forced into that character due to the need for the meta.

It'll never overtake CS GO as an esport but it's going to stay a very popular game for a long time for sure.

Give it another 6 months, i wouldnt say never. I remember 1.6 vs CSGO...we all said the same thing.

All of the money being thrown at Overwatch is just silly. CSGO and Valve will have to adapt quickly if they want to still be part of the party.

For me it's like 1 in 8 or 10 games that is actually a close interesting game. All the rest are stomps that are quite obviously going to be stomps by about 2 or 3 minutes into the game.

I've just passed the 200 hours mark and I would guess at least 160 hours of that have been me playing solo and I still love it. It is better in a good team (it doesn't really matter if they're your mates or not I guess) and this is easier to stay in now you can click to stay as a team after the game.

So is getting this as a solo/casual queuer no good then?
Also, how well does this run on older hardware? (X4 965/760)

It's fine and you can press a team-up button (with the team you are playing, if they are any good) after each game, thats what I do anyway.

Older hardware should be fine it isn't demanding (My 4 core laptop plays it fine)

Yeah the new 'stay as team' button is great, I've had quite a few evenings where I end up with a decent team and we all click this and then play lots of games together.

I just got this game for Christmas and for me solo que works great you just have to be a bit flexible on your character choice and play a hero that will help your team. Yesterday I went on 10 game win streak solo I'm about to reach my platinum rank.

Your 760 should get you around 90fps min on ultra. My son has a phenom x4 and that will normally be locked to 60fps on ultra but in some situations it will drop to 50fps

I would agree.

I've only been playing for 2 days now and last night I was constantly being put into games with people from lvl 30 up to lvl 90. And the icing on the cake is when a lvl 50 calls me out saying how much I suck. Well, no ****? I'm lvl 10 with half a dozen of in game hours, if that. :p I'm just getting to grips with the map layouts, still not sure where enemies will come from or what strategies they will use.

On my first night however, It was putting me in games with people around my lvl, at most a lvl 20! I wonder if it has anything to do with the time of day? I noticed in the past playing LoL that late at night, you were being pared with much more competent players vs when quing at peak hours.

When Im saying I think the match making is great I'm talking about the competitive side of things.

I would totally agree that quick play is a joke the teams are so unbalanced you normally end up with one team sat outside the others spawn room.

Whilst you could have a point being that low level, don't forget level isn't really linked to ability in any way at all.

As above, Level has no relevance to ability, skill, aim, knowledge, awareness.

Please stop linking player Level with anything, it's merely play time, which again means nothing.

Incorrect.

Low level doesn't mean that they are a worse player than a higher level one (ignoring secondary account stuff).

But that person is 'likely' to have far less experience. My ability to predict things and intuitively know the flow of a game is vastly better now I am level 200 than when I was level 50.

It is not a black and white definitive issue, but experience is experience.
