i have a shared supply as far as water goes.

in a semi detached, the water comes into my side of the semi and waste out of the neighbors,

i get terrible water hammer in the evening but im not using any appliances or taps.

could it be cause by my neighbour somehow?

is it not a toilet ?

We only have one toilet in our house and it's not being used at the time.

Nothing that uses water is using water.

The hammer is in the furthest part of plumbing from the water entering my property.

The only thing I can think of is it's the neighbours somehow.

Hot water tank filling / stopcock turning off? Expansion vessel on cold water pipe should cure whatever cause.

Might be heating if the central heating pump comes on

Boiler makes a lot of noise when doing anything, it's silent when the hammer happens

No hw tank in my house, combi with on demand.

The ball valve in the loft in the expansion tank was responsible for this in my old house.

No tanks in the loft.

Are you paying?

I'm going to try the expansion thing mentioned above and hope that cures it

Why would I pay. It's a genuine solution, would also improve your flow rate no doubt as well.

I'm going to be doing mine at some point as ours is 15mm copper and terrible flow.
