I've just had to RMA my 780Ti SC to evga due to artifacts and they're sending me back a GTX 1060. I don't know how to feel about that, would any of you be happy receiving a 1060 as a replacement for a 780Ti SC?

I'd be very happy is it the 6gb version? It'll be slightly faster in terms of performance though will help with stutters when more than 3 gb Vram is used providing you're getting the 6gb model also use much less power and generate less heat

After a quick look round the best page of comparisons I found was this:
http://hwbench.com/vgas/geforce-gtx-1060-vs-geforce-gtx-780-ti

Which confirms the other things I looked which indicate the 1060 either equals or surpasses the performance of the 780ti. The page I link shows the 1060 roundly beating the 780ti in modern games, which is not surprising due to games being optimised for the newer architecture.
I would be glad about the swap.

Sweet, thanks for the assurances. The box says 6gb but the card looks like the mini version.

The model they are sending you, that mini itx version is the most basic 1060 6GB (i have it), you'd at least want them to stump up the SC model (P/N: 06G-P4-6163-KR) to match your 780ti SC, or ask for the FTW edition, if not that a basic 1070 :P

Nice upgrade, double the memory, more performance and way less power consumption, win.

They could have sent him the 3GB version that is still faster than 780. It only needs to be of equivalent performance.

You are lucky. That free upgrade to a far superior card, even the ITX one.
The 1060 runs cool, and you can push that little baby there.

It seems 'tis the season for 780Tis giving up. Gigabyte received mine today and we'll see what they want to offer. Considering i have another one sitting here that was previously repaired under warranty... well I'll still need a SLI setup!

Gigabyte want to send me a 970 G1 Gaming... perhaps they'll send me two! :D

That's a bit disappointing really. As for the sli query. One of the members on this forum had an SLi Titan Black set up and one of the cards failed. When he sent it away under warranty he got a Titan X to replace it, He then contacted them and asked what he was meant to do with the other card as he'd been running SLi to which they told him to send them the working Titan Black and they'd replace it with another Titan X.
A fine example of why it's worth paying a little extra for a card from the right board partner. That was EVGA, It'd be interesting to see how Gigabyte deal with the same problem for you. Let us all know please :)
