Overwatch

Had a horrible run in comp recently, mostly SoloQ but after being at 2200 after S3 placements I'm now down to 1700 :( not fun

same 2900 to 2200 solo q.

Game is horrible for me at the moment. Just seem to have teams that just don't have a clue. I'm usually the only one on voice comms which never help

This was fun, for some reason I lost all elements of any overlay - the hud, enemies health, names etc. Could not get scoreboard up and the using the escape key to get the menus on just froze the game.
No problem I though I'll just end task and rejoin, nope overwatch had an update. When I eventually got in I get banned for 10 minutes and lose over 100sr.

I think patience rather than skill is required for this game. It doesn't help that our team had a torb, bastion and a widow on attack. I'm not talking about beginners here, I'm talking 2200-2300 so these guys have experience. ARRRGGHH!!!!

I wouldn't worry about ranking down you can soon get your points back with a decent win streak, the other day I went from 1900 to 2400 with around 10 wins.

Hey I started using the block funtion for dealing with the anoying people and it works really well you just press o on the keyboard then click group then right click on who ever is anoying you and block.
Makes the game a much more enjoyable experience.

When someone is being a d*ck, I like to point the option out to everyone else to just block him, as he will gradually find it harder to find a game, as many people will have blocked them over time. It's funny, the d*ck quite often changes his attitude.

(Chances are, there are so many people playing it will have no effect, but it often gets them thinking I think)

Blocking people doesn't stop you getting q'd with them unfortunately. They used to have that option in beta/very early full release but they removed it as people at the top of the ladder (they cited a particularly good Widow player) would struggle to find games as everyone had avoided them.

I assume you were already on a losing streak? It's hard to lose 100SR from a single match loss unless you are much higher than the average SR or on a streak of 5+ losses. Either way, my commiserations.

Note that sr 2200-2300 doesn't mean anything about experience - they could have all been fresh out of their placements at level 25 and have virtually no clue about maps/strategies/picks.

Same experience and it annoys the a lot, nobody uses voice comms and when they do it's normally at the end of a round/game after we lose and they just are salty/toxic.

Even without voice comms I'd expect team coordination to be still somewhat decent in comp but nope, my casual games have better teamwork 90% of the time.

Gonna give comp another go this weekend and if it turns out to be another hellish experience I'll be staying away from it for a while.

that's exactly how I feel at the moment. Going to give this another good session tonight/tomorrow night and if it's still hellish then I'm going to park it for a while. Great game, I love it, but just fed up with shockingly poor players and silly picks that refuse to switch to counter the other team and non communicating players

Very happy to play with anyone who is around tonight/tomorrow - hit me up booyaka76#1385

2 games with blatant aimbotters in last 24 hours. Would be nice if there was a vote/kick in Overwatch?

my take on upcoming changes (as purely casual quickplay only player) ...

DVA not sure about, she is very strong now but it might be a bit too harsh.
Roadhog i think is fair, yes there will be odd occasion where lucio or pharah momentum slide & break hook but i don't see it being major issue. Being able to reliably one-shot anna etc. when hooked is enough of a buff to offset this i think.
Sombra hack time makes little to no difference, doesn't really address fundamental rubbishness.

Other thoughts on general state of play... symmetra beam obviously needs to be toned down. At least force the player keep their opponent within reasonable distance of their crosshair for the beam lock. The spazzy dance gets annoying very quickly

Winston needs a little buff i think. It makes me sad landing on soldier to watch him laugh as he out heals my tickle cannon. He's a good counter for a couple of hero's but poor in his own right.

Mcree ult needs a bit of tweaking i reckon. You either have to take yourself out of the fight to slowpoke off away to a weird flanking spot. Or pop it in cover & just use it to maybe disperse?? I don't mind dying using my ult (see Pharah) but at least i'll take a couple out with me.

Also i'd love to know how people are able to score well with Reaper. With no range and no real movement ability. I always end up switching off before end of round out of frustration

No that was all in one match however the opposing team were the underdogs by a fair amount. Not that it made a difference with the team we had. I'm kind of glad I had to quit!

If you closed client and left the match you will lose ~100 SR and be suspended from Comp for 10 mins. I started a game with a friend last night and my usb drivers had an error so I couldn't use my keyboard, luckily it happened in character selection so I reset the PC (means the game is cancelled and my teammates don't get a loss, rather than having to play the whole game 5v6). I lost ~86 pts for that, and also lost 3 other games last night.... Was going superbly :D

Not played that much comp again this season but still on the up at 2750. Currently on a 7 or 8 win streak. I do find in comp so far the match ups are generally pretty close. Not had a stomp type round yet.

Well now I'm not happy. 2 people left my match so you get the warning up about it, I still lose 25 for it?? Wtf...

It sucks but it's the same in every online game. Also there's an equal chance the enemy team gets a leaver giving you a free win so it evens out.

They can't make it so you don't lose points when a teammates leaves because it's too easily abused. You'll get people "taking one for the team" and leaving so nobody loses rank way too often.

The warning you get when someone leaves is letting you know you can leave the match safely without getting a leaver penalty. You still lose points (unless you manage to win 4v6) but you won't get a matchmaking ban and -50 for leaving. You just get the loss.
