How do you find time to adult and game?

Since moving into my house, 3 years ago, I've struggled to find time to play games.

I've recently bought a PS4 and and VITA to be honest, I'm not really sure why I bothered, between boring household stuff, going to the supermarket and watching TV with my partner I really struggle to find any real time to sit down and play games.

My idea was that I would be able to use remote play on the Vita once we go to bed around 10pm, but most of the time, I end up not feeling like it and waste time watching gaming videos on youtube instead.

Things were so much simpler at home, I didn't have to worry about cooking, cleaning and any of the normal adult stuff and I could plough 4 or 5 hours into games each night!

How do you guys manage your time?

same here, for my hobbies don't have time. Don't have time to cook proper meal once I get home it's too late.

and I don't have kids. god knows how people can have a decent income, not work stupid hours, and have time for kids and family.

All part of growing up is a change in priorities. I dont know anyone who has a job, a happy partner and a gaming habit.
I steal an hour here and there but ususlly when either the kids are in bed or the wife is off doing something else.

Haven't properly played games in a least a year, apart from a 4 month stint overseas where I was away from everything normal. Even then, it felt like a bit of a waste of time. I'm not sure whether it's a good thing or a bad thing!

You have to make time, as soon as the soaps come on I'm offski upstairs, get shot of the consoles and buy a gaming pc with own man cave simple as :)

This is how I roll.

In from work, tea, bath 2 year old, chill with her until her bed time, see her off to bed, walk dog and if there's any time left and the wife is watching crap I escape to the man cave.

I've been playing Witcher 3 for months in tiny snippets.

What time do you finish work/do you have kids?

If i finish work at 5 ish i can be back 5.30/6 and play games (20 to 30 mins to make/eat dinner). I wouldn't do this most nights as the Mrs would be upset! 3 nights also I'll go to the gym after work.

Generally Ill have maybe 1/2 nights a week playing games from 8 till 11ish. Currently this isnt transpiring as I'm doing up my house! :X... Hopefully in a few months!

I normally finish work at 5:30 weekdays, ten minute walk home, then dinner is sometimes ready when I get in or there's some preparation to do, so that can mean anywhere from 6:30 to 7pm before we are done eating.

She doesn't watch soaps and we both enjoy the same kind of TV, so a couple of episodes later and another hour and a half has gone, oh and if we have to go to the supermarket, that's another hour out of the evening!

Dude. World's smallest violin! :p

I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this pain. Have bought so many add-ons and steam sale impulse purchases only to have them sit there for several months. It also doesn't feel as enjoyable when you have to put so much effort into planning when you'll do it.

Married and two kids one boy 4 and a girl 1. You just have to make time, with me once the kids are asleep i jump on for 1-2 hrs. Weekends the wife takes them out shopping so i get the time in there,

I think I'm quite fortunate and have a very understanding wife. What I mean is that whilst she's not a gamer she really enjoys watching me play games, currently Final Fantasy 15. It helps that she was a bit of a gamer in her past! Sometimes she actually asks after dinner if I'm sticking the PS4 on!

Obviously we still do all the other family buts around gaming but having that flexibility to still get some of my gaming in (maybe 6+ hours a week) makes me really happy. It's a balance isn't it, and she understands what I enjoy and gives me the space to do it.

I found this too since ours was born. Forget multiplayer games - you need to pause the game at any moment and sort out the crying child. I now also play with one headphone on and one off, keeping an ear out for when the tot needs resetting :).

It helps that the other half watches inane crap (to me anyway) on tv so I retreat with some guilt admittedly to my "study".

It really helps if your other half is in to gaming as much as you, but I'd have more luck finding a virgin in Swindon than a lass who plays pc games :).

As mentioned above, as soon as the Mrs sits down to watch her krap it's time to vanish for an hour or so to your desk or other room and sit down for some much deserved gaming, it's hard when your older. I have job, mortgage, fiancé, a 4 year old and another baby on the the way, and Saturdays I'm drunk at football! My gaming time has really REALLY taken a hit. Bin that PS4 off and get a PC and have a dedicated room or even just a corner to have some much needed down time for your self. A good friend of mine has just moved into a flat with his girlfriend and he didn't have any rooom for his PC, he now owns a gaming laptop and plays in the kitchen when his Mrs has her krap on the TV.

My trick has been the gaming laptop. After the Mrs and I sort out nightly admin I'll sit down with her, she can watch TV while I game on the laptop next to her.
Some nights I'll play on the Xbox on the main screen for a while.
Weekendsni have my man cave.

It's not a bad thing to lose that gaming time to better uses of your time.

Having to sacrifice time in the mountains on my motorbike is clearly not on though :p
