Afternoon everyone.

I'm currently living in Havant and I walk to work at the moment but there is a chance I may end up living in Chichester.

The place we would be moving to is too far from the train station so a cheap run around is probably my only choice.

I'll be doing Chichester to Havant and back everyday so around 25 miles and that's about it. The wife has a BMW 1 Series which we would use at the weekends so it's purely for me to get to work.

I don't want to spend a lot of money on it so looking to spend around £1,000.

I'm useless with cars so any suggestions would be appreciated :)

This or something else old and Japanese with a good service history would be my suggestion. Corolla, Yaris, Civic, Almera, anything cheap which has been owned by some granny and has about 6 miles on the clock would be a decent bet for a few hundred quid. :)

Rolla or Yaris. Even T-Sport Corolla's are worth quite literally pennies nowadays, so could even get something a bit more fun than some old granny heap.
 
Worth noting that for £800 it would be a high mileage pre-facelift T-Sport, so it would need things like the cam flange bolts (lift bolts) changing etc, and the engines get a bit unhappy if they haven't been cared for properly with good quality fully synthetic oil etc.

Parts are just as cheap as on a standard Corolla though. :)
 
K11 Micra would be about the most bulletproof car you could get for £800, but you don't get much in the way of space or luxury.
 
I know its only 25 miles, but i would be seriously depressed if i had to do that in a MK1 yaris or K11 Micra, these are town car and now are very very old.

I'd be looking at a Focus sized car, a petrol focus should be mega money and would be a much nicer place to be in the rattly old Micra, we sold ours in 2009, and it was **** then, bullet proof but ****. We still have a Yaris 1.0 MK1 T3 in the family now and its also a very depressing place to be and not particularly pleasant to drive, and thats coming from someone who likes small cars.
 
Where abouts in Chichester? There aren't many places to live that are far from the station.

I'd get a bike and cycle to the station, especially having to drive that a27 stretch everday
 
Thanks for the suggestions guys, I should know by the end of the week if we're moving or not.

It's North Chichester (Near Lavant) so it's about a 15 min ride to the train station but then I've still got to factor in train times and walking to work from Havant Station so my journey to work would be 45/50 minutes whereas A27 and car is 25 minutes.
