How do you find time to adult and game?

I keep trying to arrange a gaming night with friends, i.e. every Tues for 2 hours for example. The misses is fine with it, it's getting mates to commit that's harder. The little one is in bed by 7pm so no issues there.

Slim to none at the moment with a 13 month old watching Baby TV whenever she's not causing all sorts of havoc around the rest of the house...

I'm hoping the Switch will give me back some of my gaming time however.

I think I am rather lucky in the sense that my wife is a gamer too. We don;t have any kids yet, so I still have the luxury of time. Normally get home about 1800, do a few house things and have dinner, and then sit at the PC/PS4 every weeknight from 1900-0000.

Wife generally works weekends and can sometimes work late to 11pm.

so I've got 2 young kids, and a lovely wife. I work full time and normally get home about 5.30pm. once all the jobs are done it's normally north of 8:30 when the kids go to bed. If the mrs is watching crap and doing the ironing then i'll pop on the xbox and get some titanfall in. I'd say on average I get about 4 hours a week.

Thats my life basically. I get a few hours in like yourself, but one thing I will say, I enjoy it all the more. Playing Doom 2016 and a bit of original dishonoured, and really enjoying myself.

I have to work 7 and a 1/2 hours a day and the earliest I can start is 7am and the latest I can leave is 8pm. So I could start work at 7 and be finished for 3 with a half hour lunch break.

I can then be home for quarter past 3. Spend an hour on the treadmill and 45 mins weights then have a shower, make and eat food and it be 6pm. I can then game or watch tv, etc til bed time.

Get your shopping delivered, it gives you a whole evening back a week.

why does it take you a whole evening to buy groceries?

It's 60-90 mins max if your buying £100+ worth of stuff otherwise it's 30-40 mins tops buying £40-£60.

Also I'd never get it delivered unless all your buying is tinned stuff or in jars.

Anything fresh or frozen you have to buy yourself. They leave frozen stuff to defrost for like 2-4 hours before it comes to you. Fresh they pick the stuff with the shortest date. It's the worst thing you could do.

Also it's physical activity and social experience (meet mates at shops, etc). Plenty of reasons to do it. Also packing the stuff away takes me 10 mins tops. I live walking distance from a 24 hour ASDA so travel time is 3 mins in the car.

I don't watch TV at all so find plenty of time.

I watch a handful of shows which I leave on the planner then watch all in 1 go.

Some people however will just sit in front of a screen and watch everything and anything. I haven't ever watched eastenders, britains got talent, big brother, i'm a celebrity, dancing on ice, etc.

The shows I watch are only on for like 8 weeks (1 episode per week) before they take a 6 month break. Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Empire, etc.

Now tv, netflix and amazon/itunes rental if i want to watch a show/film. Other than that it is gaming for me. Not sure if i want kids, seems like a lot of hard work/ burden.

Same as me Sonny. That is why I got a Kodi box. I only want to watch certain programs on demand so I got rid of my Sky (even though I was only paying £10 a month for multiroom).
I no longer watch any sport either so gaming is my primary thing.

I usually work nights 2100-0730, with a 30 minute commute. So I usually get half hour in before and after work. Missus works 1945- 0745. On days off we get all the stuff that needs be done after work then chill out, usually her watching TV and falling asleep, so I stick the ps4 or pc on. Pc is upstairs in bedroom.

However I'm currently on 1330-2130 shifts at work for 3 weeks so I manage to get a good few hours in if the missus is at work. I mainly spend my free time gaming in winter months, then come March I spend my free time mountain biking or out on my motorbike.

All part of growing up is a change in priorities. I dont know anyone who has a job, a happy partner and a gaming habit.
I steal an hour here and there but ususlly when either the kids are in bed or the wife is off doing something else.

Few years ago I'd have disagreed with this but now I think you're spot on, don't even have kids yet but I can't see how it would be possible once you do without neglecting them or your other half, I don't think spending hours gaming while the other half watches crap TV is a very healthy relationship either, may as well be single.

Tosh. :) No neglect of anyone.

Kids go to bed 7-8, watch a show or two with the Mrs, hour or two gaming. Or she is at a work function/out with friends, kids in bed, gaming.

Granted its nothing like as many hours a week as when single or with no kids but its still possible. Not like life is over once you are married or get kids, still time for "hobbies".

Wasn't really talking about an hour or two, the post I replied to he mentioned a gaming habit which is many more hours than that.

It can work for some people but for many women a husband who spends his spare time gaming isn't very attractive, granted if all she does herself is watch TV then she hasn't really got a leg to stand on but it's not going to stay a happy relationship for long.

Well yeah if they never spent any time at all together i agree. I think its possible to get 2-3 hrs a day of gaming in. With kids probably an hour max? No idea on that one.

I had more time for games when I was unemployed last year. Now I work full time and I can only really play like one game at a time (despite being able to now afford as many games as I want). And not really anything multiplayer, since I can't play regularly. The single-player games usually take me a while to complete. I've been playing Arkham Knight over a few months now, close to finishing it though.

And that lack of time to play is what keeps me from buying games. Cos I know I won't get around to playing them.

Well I usually take days off from gaming etc to do other things. For example I didn't really play much at all on sunday - 30 mins, or yesterday - 0 mins. However I will play for a couple of hours tonight, possibly even 3-4 hours. However I won't play much on Thursday and possibly Saturday as I have other things on. It's finding a balance. It would be terrible for anyone to be gaming 4+ hours every day and hold down a job and a social life. However you can game 4+ hours a few days per week. For many gaming is their social life

I do however get quite a few hours in as some days you can others you don't.
