New company car time - must be an estate

I know, but like I said I've been there and done that and wouldn't do it again.

I'd get the best I reasonably could without a massive tax bill and without contributing from my own pocket. Remember, company car tax essentially forces you into a dull 4cyl 2L diesel unless you're willing to pay loads more tax, so whatever you choose it won't be inspiring. This is one of the reasons I got out of a company car.

At least when you're spending money on your own car it's yours at the end of the day.

Agree, the 1.5 would be horrible. I'd be happy with 2.0 150, my Passat is 2.0 140.

I'm used to dull now, sadly no room to keep a fun car either. I'm willing to pay a little to make it very slightly less dull.

Just to update, I still haven't ordered a car.

I decided I should at least try the 308 SW, especially as £10 got knocked off the prices during the pricing error correction. I had a test drive in a GT Line 150, it drove fine, no real complaints with driving it. However, I don't like the interior, the plastics look awful and the glove box is totally pointless is so small and the other pockets and storage spaces aren't great, mostly the whole cabin just feels smaller.

So it will have to be a Mondeo as everyone recommended, thanks guys, should have just took your word for it in the first place.

I'm just waiting now as they seem to have me in the wrong grade still, I'm in the normal grade where there is another grade with a slightly higher budget for an estate car, it should make the Titanium X pack a little more in reach.
 
Mk5 Mondeo is a cracking car, no such thing as a titanium X

its a titanium with the optional £2000 x pack, full leather LED headlights 10 way adjustable seats keyless entry and 19" wheels,

the 2l 150 is underpowered and dog slow the 180 is exactly the same engine and makes the same figures mpg/emissions and whilst not a huge difference its certainly noticeable, funnily enough you can change between the 150/180 mapping using diagnostic software and adjusting values in the PCM, obviously you wouldn't do this with a company car though. overall great cars and certainly a comfy place to soak up a few miles
 
The GLA doesn't have the same loading capacity as a Mondeo estate

GLA 200d SE is +£29
GLA 200 CDI AMG Line +£27
GLA 200 CDI Sport Auto +£40

I don't know what these come with spec wise, anything else is a lot more over budget.

Mercedes B200d SE Executive is +£38 these have a slightly better boot than the GLA but still no match for the Mondeo estate.

I can see the BMW 3 series now but they are expensive starting at +£76, also the BMW X1 18d SE for +£43

I would go for the Mondeo 2.0 Titanium X-Pack (not Econetic).... The X-Pack adds Full Leather and Adaptive Headlights (pattern changes dependant on conditions/speed and auto high beam)
 
I have a 308SW Puretech manual, great car almost had for 2yrs now and 38k on the clock. Zero issues.
I am 6' 1" and the seating position is very comfortable.
And the boot...I have a wife and 3 kids, we go camping every summer, its enormous.

OK, they have fixed my grade, with that all saloons and hatchbacks disappeared from the selection, the GLA is no longer an option.

I have ordered a Mondeo Titanium X Pack in deep impact blue, cost me £25 a month extra which I don't think is too bad considering all the extras is will have.

Need a bit more advice.

My car has now been ordered, they sent me the the spec and asked me to confirm it was the right car, spec and colour.

The system has an order tracker, expected delivery date it 30th April, then I noticed the cost to me has jumped up to £36.64! They hadn't said anything to me about this, I sent them an email and they said it's because the car will be delivered after 1st April the VED rates are going up.

Should I be paying this? I don't pay the VED on the car, all I pay is the BIK tax and the extra charge for better spec.

Has the list price gone up since the list was created? I thought P11D was based on list price?

Pretty sure a lot of Ford prices went up recently due to falling £ exchange rates.
 
A lot of them went up on 9th Jan but Ford Mondeo prices didnt increase until 30th Jan.

Your company will be leasing the cars from a lease company and then providing them to you... Essentially you are the one making the payments indirectly to the leasing company as a mix of company car allowance (set amount the company pays) and the shortfall being made up from your contribution... As the VED is included in a lease deal and the VED is increasing, the whole cost of the lease will increase to accommodate... As the amount your company pays as your allowance hasn't increased, your contribution will increase to cover it...
