I know, but like I said I've been there and done that and wouldn't do it again.
I'd get the best I reasonably could without a massive tax bill and without contributing from my own pocket. Remember, company car tax essentially forces you into a dull 4cyl 2L diesel unless you're willing to pay loads more tax, so whatever you choose it won't be inspiring. This is one of the reasons I got out of a company car.
At least when you're spending money on your own car it's yours at the end of the day.
