Asus Strix 1070 with faulty RGB lighting

Hi All,

I installed a new Asus Strix 1070 last week and it looks like the RGB lighting is faulty. When a static colour is chosen the backplate LED's are different from the rest of the LED's on the card although the backplate LED shows the correct colour as per the software colour chosen.

I found this out as I wanted to set the LED's to white but doing this makes the backplate LED white but the rest a purple colour, with one LED stuck on green.

I'm now not sure what to do as the card in general is great, no coil whine etc. The faulty LED's are not a deal breaker but it really niggles me that its not working as intended.

Do I get a replacement and chance the new card having coil whine or put up with it and keep the current card?

I'd change it personally, as long as its definetly faulty and not software related. As it would bug me, would also impact resale value, well it would for me anyway.

Personally I would get it changed however I would also be tempted to drop Gibbo a trust and ask if they can do anything in terms of a kickback since they will just have to pay for postage and then sell it as B Grade once it has been returned.

Maybe see if they would give you a refund for the difference between what they would sell it at B grade and what you paid?

Thanks guys, I'm leaning towards to exchanging. I just don't like the idea of not having a fully working product, even if it really does not affect the performance of the card.

If nothing else it might make selling the card on 2nd hand more difficult, assuming you'd tell people about it in advance.

Yes that was my thinking. I couldn't sell the card on in its current state without explaining the fault, just not in my nature.

Anyway a replacement is on its way and should be with me tomorrow, so hopefully all will be well with the 2nd card!
