Hi guys,

As above. My old Man's got a fairly significant birthday coming up and I want to surprise him with a hot air balloon trip. It's something he's always wanted to do :)

Any advice? Some recommendation possibly? We're in the South so the Hampshire area would be preferable.

Thanks.

Just be aware it can take an age to actually fly. My parents had one and between the booking queue and weather delays it took them about a year before they actually managed to go up.

I say do it! I recently proposed to my fiancée and on the day that we got engaged, I surprised her with a sunrise hot air balloon trip. She loved it! :D

Do a Hang Gliding tandem and it'll be much more enjoyable. :p

Actually ballooning is on my list. The thing that puts me off is waiting for the right conditions.

Don't have a couple of pints before you go up like i did:eek:

I did mine in the lake district,a great day out, they even make you fold the balloon up and put it away in the big bag :D

It's the sort of activity where you get an indication that the weather might be good the next day, and then make a call on it in the morning. Don't book a flight and then try and plan hotels etc. around it - try and do something convenient to get to as you might get very little notice. For this reason don't buy one of those vouchers that expires because chances are your flight will get delayed several times.
