Just came across this on the news (Babee on board app)

@Roar87: But given the extra strains pregnancy puts on the body (at all stages of pregnancy - not just when they attain the coveted snowman figure), don't you think it is polite, decent and the right thing to do to offer them the choice?

I don't think it puts that much strain on the body to the point someone can't stand. I think Women are capable of comfortably standing for at least the first 2/3 of their pregnancy, probably more. I have offered to give up my seat to a pregnant woman before, but she just said thanks and declined. I've known pregnant women who exercise and weight train for most of their pregnancy, they're not fragile little **********

Has anyone actually ever mistaken a fat woman for a pregnant woman?

In all honesty is this even a thing?

Is their a special type of fat woman that just has an enlarged stomach area?

I'm very worried about some of your mental health :p

Happened to my aunt on a few occasions. She was mortified.

Lol. She is now...larger and nobody is making that mistake any more!

However to start with her weight did go on her stomach and behind.

I've been googling this phenomenon and it's mainly nonsense blogs and women's journalists.

Yes I finally found 1 that sounded half convincing so indeed it does actually exist to my complete and overwhelming surprise, I guess there is more to the freakshow of life than my meager experiences.

To be fair, sometimes i look pregnant. I suffer from a digestive problem which can cause my intestines to swell. I literally go from flat stomach to looking 4-5 months pregnant in about an hour.

Yes, it's a thing. I've seen other people do it and I've been told by several fat women it happened to them.

My sister did it once. She was 5 years old at the time, though.

It's simply not true that (a) fat women can't be pregnant and (b) no pregnant women put weight on apart from their abdomen. So it's possible to mistake fat for pregnant and vice versa.

Then you clearly haven't spent much time with a pregnant women :-D My wife felt sick for the whole of the first trimester with her second pregnancy. Pregnancy makes women tired, it comes with aches and discomfort, yes some women feel good throughout (few), but how would you know unless you ask.

I think the risk is more about what happens if they fall over/theres an accident

To be fair lots of people make the mistake that somebody is pregnant when it turns out they are just fat nowadays.

reminds me of about 4 years back on christmas, one of my cousins has always been on the larger side and at dinner my grandad asks "so casey whens the baby due" and she replies "i had her a month ago" :p

I'm not convinced it's as strenuous as is made out. Also, your wife's experience isn't the default either. That's just an anecdote and not really grounds to claim they must not have spent time with a pregnant woman.

LMAO. This is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. Good lord what is happening. Maybe it's just because I'm getting old or anti-social but god damn I cannot stand this era of smart phone zombie app social media nonsense.
