Just been quoted £216 (inc.VAT) for a Full Service on my S-Max Diesel by my go to independent Garage. I trust the guys and they always do a good job but that seems a bit high? They do charge £50 for an MOT whereas some places will charge £30-35 around here but I don't mind paying £15 or so extra as I know it's in good hands. I guess I'm sort of answering my own question but still... :p

An oil and filter on mine costs £172.66

£216 for a full service sounds like a bargain...

cheaper by £20 though so not miles cheaper.

plus there's the headache of leaving the car with them, i can bike back from my local garage.

Just spoke to Ford and they say it'd be £224 for a full service, but I guess Ford would use original parts for replacements where as independents tend to use non manufacturer stuff.... ie. I'm guessing Ford would use decent engine oil and my independent would use cheapo non Ford stuff? Does that really matter? When I had my oil and filter changed 6 months ago at my independent I bought the oil and filter myself lol and just got them to change it when the car had the MOT.

I normally always supply oil and filter.

do they knock the price down of the service accordingly then? ie. if the filter and oil costs you £40 and the service would normally be £200 do they do it for £160ish?

Have you considered the fact that main dealers would also do software updates at the same time?

I know Nissan and Skoda do for my cars. (So did Audi in the past for me).
