A bit high a resolution for one card. 2 cards would manage if crossfire is working as it should but it will annoy you a lot.

I'd buy that monitor and 1 480 with the intention of running at Medium settings and then upgrade once the AMD Vega cards are out in the Summer :) (they look to be powerful enough to run that resolution with ease)

One with lowed settings (game dependent of course)

mGPU is just not worth the bother, when it works it's fantastic, when it dosnt you wonder why you wasted the money.

That said, if you mainly just play a one or two games and do scale well in crossfire, then go for it

Oh the temptation to buy a Nitro+ for the misses and build her a little gaming PC :/

That's what I did with my old system! The Nitro is a great card, and great value. I have tried (and failed) to get the missus into gaming for years. She had zero interest :( Until I gave her a go on my Vive - she loves the VR ;) There is always hope :)

Just bought a Nitro to sit in wait for my new build (mid-late feb). Now to see what comes of Zen (if anything) and the power of the £.

:D

Fair play. My misses likes the odd game here and there, gears of war horde mode where we work together she finds reasonably fun for a few hours :)

But yeah I think if I built her something she would have no excuse then.

Damn it Ocuk, I just gave in and ordered the GTR & an LG 29 UM68-P! Can't wait to try them out tomorrow with some Deus Ex :D

Great choice, I purchased my XFX 480 GTR Black edition before xmas and I'm really impressed with it, the fans don't turn on until 60c and most of my games in 50s temp wise, so really cool and quiet.

No issues with any of my games, just works 100 % :).

Side Note: Do remember it's 280mm long so check case size for those thinking of ordering one :).

I know the XFX GTR is a good card but I do feel people are getting a bit carried away with the reputation this card seems to garner. There are at least two versions of this card:

GTR xxx edition clocks: 1120 boosts to 1288
GTR Black edition clocks 1120 boosts to 1338

There is also a reference cooler RX 480 black edition with the higher boost clock, so theres a choice of three really.

Both of these GTR cards have custom coolers that look the same, but have different boost clocks, so I'd "assume" that the black edition is gonna overclock higher than the vanilla xxx due to it's higher boost clock. Maybe, just maybe, the black edition is the one that appears to get the really high clocks, 1400mhz plus on the core. When listening to online reviews, I've always tried to see which version GTR the reviewer is using and as far as I can see, none of them mention if the card is a black edition or not, nor wether they've increased core voltage or not (there might a few vids stating if they over volted or not but I haven't seen them).
Now, in no way knocking these cards, I have a GTR myself (non Black versh) that I can bench in heaven quite well at 1400mhz, (if I mess around with Sapphire Trix and give it +100 Mv and get the fan 100%) which is a 112mhz overclock above boost figure of 1288mhz so its none too shabby. Anything above that and its crashville. That is nowhere near the 1450mhz on stock volts that I've seen posted on these vids.
So..I just think people need to bit more aware of the versions of these GTR cards that they may or may not be thinking of getting. As I said, I really rate mine as I find it plays really well at 1440p at stock (I don't play anything too demanding atm)

The jayz2c review used the xxx edition not black. Still can't say I care too much about how high it goes, if it does 1350-1400 that's plenty imo anything else is gravy and probably will end up unstable in the long run anyway. Was very tempted to get the devil instead but the gtr seemed to be better by too high a margin to do it (temps/noise).

Funnily enough, I've found an online review of a bloke overclocking a GTR Black edition and getting around the 1475mhz area at +150mv, fan 100%. Hes nudging 1500mhz atm (I'm still watching it:))
Also interesting that the Jay2cents review GTR was sent to him, he didn't buy it retail, so its gotta be goodun, even if its not a BE.
