I'm not sure why people are slating the OP for making a sensible consumer decision to buy the same product at the lowest price available.
It's not that, so much as the OP's choice to buy from what looks like a dodgy seller and the OP's subsequent insistence that the manufacturer should actually support purchases from dodgy sellers.

If they have 100,000+ feedback on eBay, they're essentially a medium sized business, not really a dodgy seller. Clearly the product is faulty, so it wouldn't have mattered whether he paid £70 on the highstreet or £35 on eBay. Like I said though, eBay should assist him as they're very keen on protecting buyers.

People make the mistake of thinking Ebay is like Amazon or something though, its not, its a lot more lax and little regulation.

Ebay is literally a lot like a car boot sale, you may not always know where the stuff is sourced but its the cheapest price available ( though not always if you shop about). Like a car boot sale, dont expect the seller to be reputable.

I would concur on this and few years ago probably would have done the same as OP in regard to purchase. Now I don't just because of the hassle and frustration it causes.

If ebay don't and OP has paid with Paypal that is another option and as ebay/paypal pretty much side with buyer it will be open and shut case of full refund IMO.

So why are they not actually registered as a proper business, then, especially a medium-sized one?

Are private sellers not subject to The Consumer Contracts, business taxes and the like?

Bought a logitech product off ebay (years ago) and it died and they got me a replacement of a different model.

However I absolutely wouldn't expect the warranty honoured. I took a chance to get something cheaper via ebay.

My replacement was the g700, only mouse I like. Will have to get g700s when it dies

Oh ye of little faith

Had to make do with a G700S as they didnt have any suspect quality G700 left

This says much more about Logitech than it does about you.
