mondeo diesel down on power?

well couldn't find anything, boost pipe looke din good condition and was still flexible. So ended up driving back to my parents and putting it in a trusted garage for tomorrow. God that drive was painful. So hopefully should find something out tomorrow.

and yeah right, that doesn't look like they've touched the MAF sensor let alone changed it.

Yep my money on boost pipe, my 2005 was down on power, removed ever to clean when I noticed split in pipe, taped up and noticed improvement so bought a new pipe, took about an hour to fit as I didn't have ramps and had to remove underbody

This, or a vacuum pipe has popped off when they were poking around. Had a vacuum pipe come off the parents Vectra and it wouldn't generate boost

Couldn't find the split in mine until I took the pipe off. That's the maf in your picture, the map sensor is on the other end of the boost pipe from the egr, just after the intercooler.

:( well seems other garage was telling the truth other than a few small lies.
other garage couldn't find anything wrong, but at least he said it is chucking out far to much smoke, makes me wonder how it passed the emissions.

However I'm now stuck, on how to move forward, either keep burning money and send it to a diesel specialist, which i imagine will cost a bomb, or sell it as spares or repairs and find another banger although money is a real issue at the moment. .
It was a nice car and as I thought it was working so spent a few hundred on the mot which is now useless :(

or drive something that even a old slow diesel fiesta out accelerates and smoke everyone behind me out.

This is why I hate cars in general, this happened to me three times in a year its the problem with buying cheap cars, but when you have no other option what are you suppose to do? problem is it ends up costing you more in the long run. Are you better of getting a small loan or consolidating your current debt (if any) and putting a bit more on top to get a decent motor?

I have a 2005 mondeo 2.0 tdci and I had to buy a new pipe off ebay cos mine was split. That was down on power.

I've also had it go into limp mode through injectors too.

What is the mileage?

I wonder if the final smoke test (Max revs sustained, no load) caused a worn timing chain to jump a tooth?

The chains do wear on these and they can jump.

(I have always hated the MOT smoke test. Lets run the engine at an extreme point in its operational envelope that it never operates at in normal day to day running and see if something breaks! Yey! :( )

Smokey and down on power change the egr to intercooler pipe 30 quid should get you one off the bay!

Aye changed a couple of these too, always splits on the underside of the bend. You can tell it's this if you can drive normally without using the turbo but instead of boosting it just dies. 10 minute job with basic tools.

well its now dead, less than 100miles after mot. what ever the issue is its gradually got worse, to the point now that it is just a smoke machine that cant even drive and engine stalls after about 45 seconds. Stil starts fine though.
garage checked all the egr, turbo and other pipes etc and couldn't find anything.

So now time to search for the cheapest car i can find with 10-12months mot.

Could be injectors? Easy way to diagnose the egr to intercooler pipe is have someone rev it while you squeeze pipe. If the weird sneeze type noise stops after lifting off the accelerator pedal when the pipe is squeezed it's that particular pipe. That's how I did it when I had mine.

my 2004 mondy was the same ... gutless although it was the tddi not the tdci ... check for soot in the engine bay .. As mine was a split boost hose
