My Dads decided he likes the look of my pc and is considering something similar however he wants to game through his 4k tv and not a monitor but hasn't got the pennies to get a top top rig capable of native 4k.

My idea is to build him a pc capable of playing games at a native 1080p then let the tv do its thing.

What would happen in this case would the picture look odd in anyway or should he just see a perfect 1080p image?

Help appreciated.

Depends on the TV, but should be fine. It wouldn't look like a 4K image that's for sure, so hopefully he isn't expecting that. If he tries to set it to native display though (which it may do on default), he's going to struggle with FPS rates of course.

No he understands, im thinking of getting him a 1070 so should be able to play anything at 1080p i just wasnt sure if there would be a problem running it at that res?
