Best place to buy currency ( Holiday time )

Hello all. Just wondering if any of you have come across a good place, to get your currency from. Been to a few places last year and normally i go locally, but i feel i am being ripped off some what for not doing it in advanced and using the web.

Any recommendations? I am off to Budapest Hungary.

Avoid the airports thats for sure. Their rates suck. Marks and Spencer is usually quite good.
 
Get a Halifax Clarity card and use that for your spending or withdraw cash from an ATM when you are there. You get the bank rate on the day which is always better than the rate you will get from a place on the high street.

This. You can even pay it from bank transfer to the card to avoid any immediate interest.
 
best price i got was from currency number one ordered online and coleceted that day .As they give a better rate online to there shops.Only took 350 cash thewn used my credit card for every thing else as there was no extra charges with it .
 
Revolut card always for the best exchange rates possible (even better than clarity)
Fee free top up from debit card or bank transfer
No fees for anything anywhere (except atm's which specifically charge) and can be used in currency
Much simpler application than any of the above too

Why do you think you need currency in advance? Budapest has cash machines, including at the airport.

Ideally use one of the cards often recommended on here but failing that your regular debit/bank card will tend to be better than collecting cash in advance.

Not if you get charged for withdrawals when abroad :confused:

We usually just go to M&S or the PO. Then we have a Nationwide credit card which gives free spending abroad.
 
When I go abroad I normally use my Revolut card. It's free to sign up and you just top it up with cash and exchage money in the app. Then you can use it like a bank card when you're there to withdraw money without charges or just use it to pay for things like normal. If you're running low, just top it up again via the app.

Debenhams are normally quite competitive for currency, get the quote online and it gives you ??% off too.

I normally get a little bit of cash from there and then just use Halifax Clarity / Monzo whilst abroad.
 
Would you walk around your local city centre with a wad of cash in your pocket?
Unlikely.
Why do so many insist on doing it when they go on holiday?
Get a Clairty Card or similar.
 
tesco has done me a good rate in the past. But as said above I take my Halifax clarity card and use that as much as possible.

I think last time I went to the states I only paid 33p interest, but got a far better rate.
