So I recently purchased a Lian Li PC-O8 Case and moved my rig over from the Cooler Master Haf X.

I do plan on open loop watercooling as this is what the case is designed for however until then any help would be amazing.

Heres the current specs;

i7 3930k 3.2GHz
16GB Corsair Vengence Ram
2 x 4GB EVGA GTX 680 (SLI) Reference Cards
Corsair AX1200 PSU
CPU is cooled by Corsair H100

Here are how the fans are connected;

CPUFan - Corsair H100

CHAFan 1 - 4 = Main bay exhaust and 3 front fans.

Both rear fans are connected via molex.

I'm aware that the GTX 680 4GBs run hot as standard as they're reference cards.

These Temps are Average;

Idle Temp for my CPU is 45°C
Idle Temp for top GPU 44°C
Idle Temp for Bottom GPU 51°C

Load Temp for CPU 60°C
Load Temp for Top GPU 85-95°C
Load Temp for Bottom GPU 85-95°C

I am lead to believe that these temps are the cause of the fans being high throughout the entire case which is making the case very loud, Much louder than in my Haf X (Which has good air flow).

Any help towards the temp or noise issues prior to watercooling the entire rig would be amazing.

Cheers

So my headphones seemed to have packed up and I'm using the 5.1 Surround Sound.

I am having to turn the sound up quite loud just to be able to drown out the Fan noises which still doesn't quite work, also this isn't doable at night which leaves me with very little choice of hearing anything besides fan noises.

To add to insult the Case is £20 cheaper less than 2 weeks after purchase.

Obvious, but have you tried just lowering the speed of the fans by adjusting the fan curve? Are they PWM or 3-pin? You may be hearing pump noise from the H100 as well.

Thanks for your reply.

To be honest I'm not entirely sure if they're PWM or not, Apart from the 2 that came with the H100 the rest are stock case fans, which if I recall are only 3 pins.

Its like a constant "Woom Woom Woom" along with the fans spinning noise.

To be honest, I'm starting to question this case, Will it be quieter if I do get around to Open Loop Watercooling it all? I hope so otherwise thats £400 I have lost.

Could it be case vibration rather than fan noise?

Have you tried to push the case/side panels together to see if the noise disappears?

I'm sure its not vibrations as I thought this myself at one point.

After adjusting the Corsair H100 Fan speed (On the Block) its lead me to believe its a combination of the H100 fans and the GPU Fans as my GPU gets very hot and the fans do ramp up.

Although the case fans are not the quietest.

I don't think the H100 is known for it's whisper quiet operation, and any GPU can be more than audible when the fans ramp up. Obviously none of your fans are optimised for silence either (pretty sure the H100 ones aren't), but if you go full custom then you can choose fans that are, and you will have none on your GPU then, they'll just be on the rads and the one at the rear, so you don't need to fear it being a noisy case for watercooling. In the interim, try slowing down the fans on the case and you should be able to do the same for the H100 ones also from within the BIOS. You can also get voltage adapters for 3-pin fans. Probably not a great deal you can do about the GPUs though... if you don't let the fans spin up they may just throttle anyway. You're not watercooling those are you?

It seems the case fans aren't a major issue and can be lived with until upgrading.

Seems the H100 was an issue but putting that on the Lowest speed solved it at a cost of 60c on the cpu.

The GPUs are an issue now, hitting 80-90c the fan speed nicely causes a racket.

Nope the GPU ain't Watercooled.

before I watercool im thinking if its GPU or CPU/Mobo/Ram to upgrade first... The GPU Noise makes me think of doing that.
