Hi all,

My bath cold water tap has been reduced to a trickle, the top in the sink is nice and powerful. Nothing has been meddled with so a bit strange how it would just happen? Kitchen and en-suite is fine.

Anyone any ideas on how to fix? The pipes bang when the sink tap is on also, not sure if it's connected? Think I remember reading something about about air in the pipes? And turning off the stop **** or something with taps on?

Cheers

I've had it where the pin the sealing washer sits on breaks. Causes the washer to sit close to the seat giving you a slow flow and the pin being bounced around sounds like water hammer.

As above
It is most likely that the seal have gone in your tap
Pretty easily replaced with some basic tools
Screwdriver, spanner and a new seal
The seals come in all different sizes but normally you buy a set of various different ones from most DIY stores

Make sure you turn off your mains water first though!

The taps are original so will be 16years old so fingers crossed should be serviceable. I hope so anyway as they're a big old school joint set with mixer tap and shower.

Thanks all, I'll have a play this weekend. Best to take apart prior to going to the DIY store and take the knacker part with me I guess.
