file locked after losing network connection to my NAS

Hi all. How do I solve this?

My pc crashed while I had a spreadsheet open which resides on my NAS.

Now, it is 'locked for editing' by me, so I can only open it read only. The contents are all correct, but I cannot edit the original file.

How do I fix this?

Save it as a different name.

Ive done that as a backup, but I want my original file back. It's presence is making my neat file structure look ugly.

The NAS will probably have a local file manager accessible by a web browser.

Enable hidden files, the locking file will have a similar name.

not the case after a reboot the file is only a temp

Or you could just delete that locking file if it exists and save yourself the hassle. Or if it isn't an actual locking file, and the file is locked open by someone, use the "close open file" functionality that most file servers have (although oddly just checking my synology and can't see a way of doing it)

If I had to reboot my file server / NAS every time someone had a Locked excel spreadsheet I don't think I would still be in a job anywhere near 15 years

If I had to reboot my file server / NAS every time someone had a Locked excel spreadsheet I don't think I would still be in a job anywhere near 15 years

ye but we dont use cheapo nas's do we we use proper file servers where you can close the file from the manager.
