Its not doable is it?

The fact that the amazon TV does not steam DTS without a transcode is niggling me....

What about a shield TV? Is there a Now TV app for that?

Roku has an app for all of the big video services available over here.

Google play is also available on there as is Sky store.

I have a Roku 3 and I don't think it has an optical port, so DTS over hdmi would be your only option but without a hdmi amp, I haven't been able to try myself.

roku 2 (4205) & 3 do not have h265 codec hardware decode & 4K ; need to wait for newer Roku ultras, but as opposed to £50 will be >£80 and even more if you want a usb(stick/hdd) capability.

I want one box for

Plex to stream MKV from server with DTS audio
Now TV
Amazon prime Video
Netflix

I want decent Image quality aswell for catchup services...

Can anyone confirm that the Roku 3 supports 720p streams on Now TV?

cheers

I dont think the roku 4 itself will ever come, it *was* in the usa but had reliability/heat problems, I thought, but they now released 3 new variants in USA (including ultra) with a new chipset, but no news on uk release yet ... now too late for xmas.
If visiting the USA I think it would be a good purchase although I have never confrimed these are not regioned in anyway for netflix/amazon.

According to the NOW TV site it does HD for on Demand, Cinema and Sports but Entertainment is only SD. I don't know whether that covers all models or is outdated though.

You have something setup wrong then as mine does DD+ from Prime without any issues.

Those instructions are wrong

I get this

There is no option for Audio mode Auto in my menu just auto in HDMI

When I chnage the HDMI to DD/DTS i still get stereo from amazon prime.

I'm getting DTS audio in Plex but no DD in either netflix or amazon prime.

Yeah me too now for prime and Netflix

A restart of the Roku and my amp seemed to do the trick

So I'm getting DD+ in Netflix and Prime and DTS audio in plex

Just what I wanted !

So annoying they aren't saying whether they will or will not bring them over here!

I picked up the second gen streaming stick from the US instead of buying the UK model to use over here as reviews said the bump in processing was worth it.

No region locking or the like that I can see on the boxes themselves, I think it's more to do with your Roku account you use on the appliances.

That said one issue is that the BBC in their wisdom have only approved use of the service on certain Roku models to 'ensure quality of the user experience' or something which is really annoying!

Workaround is to add iPlayer as a channel within Plex but would be nice to be able to use the proper app for it.

So I don't think there would be any issues in buying a US box, you'd need to sort out a power supply I guess (not an issue I had with the streaming stick).

I'm tempted to try one out, have been using some h265 files through Plex and most are ok but with some there are issues with the playback failing if I want to fast forward at all.

Hi Easy,

Sorry for the thread-necro but wanted to check how you were getting on with the Roku 3?

I'm currently in the market for a new 'all-in-one' solution for pretty much the same needs that you've listed above.

Does it cope OK with larger MKV files (30GB+) via Plex?

Also, have you tested wireless vs wired connectivity to see if there's much difference?

Thanks in advance.

Ive streamed BR rips upto that size via a roku 3 (wired) without issue - the only thing I didnt like about it was the small video wall - only 18 titles /page , with over 650 on my server that was just too small (and no , there was no way to alter this at the time)

Otherwise a very good unit

Never tried wireless as it was so close to my router it made sense to go wired, but personally wouldnt try streaming huge files like that I always found I got highly variable performance over wireless.
