Long drive with a watercooled PC

Hi OCUK forums.

I'm moving from London to Edinburgh next week and will be taking my trusty NZXT Manta with a custom hardline loop inside. I've driven once or twice to friends houses with it and every bump in the road scares me senseless. I drive a Fiesta ST which has its suspension modelled on a block of granite, which doesn't help my nerves.

Has anyone done long 6-7 hour drives with water cooled PCs, how have you kept them safe? Do you drain it or just accept it's going to be okay no matter what potholes throw at you.

Please share your transport stories with me, so I don't make any major mistakes leading to a wet PC and car!

I would drain it then do a thorough leak test once refilled.
If you don't have a easy to use drain system, fit one when the loop is drained.

This is why I still use normal tube and barbs.
I'm much ore confident that it won't leak.

Hopefully you won't have to move too often.

Drain it for sure, and sit the PC in the car so that the motherboard is lying flat horizontal to ensure no vertical movement with the GPU.

Do a normal fill and leak test afterwards.

My PC was driven from the lakes to Edinburgh in the back of an XC70 without any issue. Except for a an accident, there's no chance that it's going to be subject to anything worse than the shaking and tipping I do when trying to bleed the system. Plus I have very high confidence in the compression and barb fittings that I have used from trying to remove them when the system is drained.

As others have said, lie the case on it's side with the motherboard lying on it's back.

Id be nore worried about your gcard or cards snapping off in the socket tbh.

Just lay it down in back of car and try to pack out around card/s and if you cant remove them.
