That's because most of them ended up launching their engine and now they have a reputation for terrible reliability, as well as old v8 running costs. If they don't use a stupid rotary engine it might be more appealing though.

I think the problem is the entire point of an rx car is it has a rotary engine, it'd be like saying putting a 4cyl turbo in a mustang would make it more appealing because it wouldnt be so thirsty.
 
If they want to make it petrolhead friendly it needs to have a real engine with all the components nicely spaced out and accessible, like the GT86. No electric nonsense which you can't do anything with.

The wheels on that jalepino concept are hideous and make me want to vom into a cupholder.
 
Just remake the old one, with maybe slight changes. I still think it looks fairly modern. One of the worlds best engines too.
