Could my laptop (Samsung 700g7a ) be covered (insurance)

You mean, fraud?

if you like.

Say you have a party your phone gets stolen, it's not covered.

would it be massive fraud in your eyes to say it got stolen while out instead?

or simply avoiding what are pretty unreasonable terms.

My point was that you were referring to my post as 'stupid' yet you had the audacity to suggest fraud. A little pot, kettle and black perhaps?

not really.

stupidity is doing yourself out of hundreds/thousands of pounds for want of reading your policy to see if there is a way it can be worded to fit in with the policy.

never contact your insurance till you've doubble checked how and why you're covered.

the old one used to be covered for accidental damage on your phone, but not water damage.

if you said "i dropped it in a puddle on the pavement and the screen shattered and it broke" you got nothing

you said "i dropped it on the pavement and the screen shattered" you where covered.

No, but your missing the point. Do you think that by you not doing it, things will change?

I wouldnt personally claim for something in that way but by being morally right wont change anything

You've missed my point. If there were fewer fraudulent claims, insurance would be cheaper.

no, insurance companies profits would be higher.

How do you balance the people who wont make a claim because they are scared the insurance company will raise their premiums to an unaffordable level?

Ok, let's put this another way. Would more fraudulent cases not increase premiums?

not really.

That would depend on what scenarios the insurer covers.

Either way, we won't agree. I don't think that suggesting fraudulent activity as a solution on here is very wise, some might even call it stupid.
I'll leave it at that.

I had a quick check and doesn't look like its possible to replace the gpu which is why you got told there is nothing they can do.

you could get this!

.

Like alternative facts? You don't work for the Trump administration do you?

Actually, the purple shirts-told me it HAD BEEN REPAIRED via there online "progress wheel" (pick-up>on its way>repair centre>repair finished). So I rang them up as was curious why they didn't ring me to tell me how much it would cost (it was a paid repair) then they told me it can't be repaired as they can't get hold of - GFX card from Samsung. it had to be from Samsung direct as under there regulations they couldn't (say) get one off eBay or some other place. I think it was just too much trouble for them to be honest. They apologised.

Maybe they "should" stick to installing winzip, if they can find the USB port that is....

Tony.

So if you claimed as is, it would get sent back to you as wear and tear yes. You would also be charged for that. Wear and tear is never taken into account to be repaired or replaced (unless you have a specific policy which covers this but I have never seen that in the 9 years I been repairing insurance units).

Be very careful about what and when inquiries (sp?) you make as it is ALL logged and cross checked when you do claim. If you ring up asking what cover you have, then claim anytime in the next couple of months, they will look at you very closely :)
